What is encoding-check?

A check for files containing Chinese text after they are changed. It checks for a byte-order mark, valid UTF-8, and garbled text, while only warning about carriage returns.

Use it after editing Chinese-language files to check their text encoding and possible mojibake, which is corrupted-looking text caused by decoding errors.

It helps detect encoding damage or unreadable text before the file is used or committed.
