claude-vibe-squad: Skill for Claude Code

.agents/skills/dimensional-analysis-check/SKILL.md

dimensional-analysis-check is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from mtarcure/claude-vibe-squad. It costs 41 tokens per session (415 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A check for whether numbers keep the correct units, scale, precision, rounding, signedness, and allowed range as they move through a system.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when numeric data crosses arithmetic, APIs, databases, or time-related code.
Why use it?
It catches mismatches that can silently produce incorrect calculations, stored values, API data, or time conversions.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00041 $0.00415
Opus 5 $0.00020 $0.00208
Sonnet 5 $0.00008 $0.00083
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00042

Security

Grade A, and why

dimensional-analysis-check scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Dimensional Analysis Check

Catch unit, scale, base, and precision errors by checking that every quantity's dimensions agree across an expression, an API boundary, and a storage round-trip.

Steps

  1. Inventory every numeric quantity the change touches and annotate each with its unit and scale: seconds vs milliseconds, bytes vs KiB, basis points vs percent vs fraction, token decimals, wei vs ether.
  2. Check each arithmetic expression for dimensional consistency — added terms must share a unit, and a ratio's unit must be what the consumer expects.
  3. Check every boundary crossing: function parameters, JSON fields, database columns, environment variables, and RPC payloads are where units silently change identity.
  4. Verify conversion factors against the authoritative definition rather than an inline literal, and flag every magic constant that encodes a unit conversion.
  5. Check precision and rounding: integer division truncation, float accumulation in loops, and fixed-point scaling applied twice or not at all.
  6. Check signedness and range: values that can go negative, counters that can wrap, and durations that can exceed the field's width.
  7. Check time explicitly — epoch vs monotonic, UTC vs local, inclusive vs exclusive interval bounds — as it is the most common dimensional defect.
  8. Where a unit is only documented in a name, treat the name as an assertion to verify, not as evidence.

Acceptance

  • Every quantity in the reviewed change has a stated unit and scale.
  • Each expression and each boundary crossing is dimensionally consistent, or the mismatch is reported.
  • Conversion constants are traced to an authoritative definition.
  • Rounding, truncation, overflow, and sign behavior are checked at the extremes, not just at typical values.
  • Time values state their epoch, zone, and interval bound convention.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

dimensional-analysis-check is a skill published in the GitHub repository mtarcure/claude-vibe-squad (142 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 41 tokens to every session and 415 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
