rocketmq-rust: Skill for Codex

.agents/skills/rocketmq-rust-local-cluster/SKILL.md

rocketmq-rust-local-cluster is a skill for Codex from mxsm/rocketmq-rust. It costs 59 tokens per session (1,724 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A tool for running RocketMQ Rust services as a local message-broker cluster. RocketMQ is a system for sending messages between applications, and the tool supports single-node, replicated, proxy, and controller-based setups.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to start, check, inspect, and stop local RocketMQ Rust environments for development and replication testing.
Why use it?
It avoids manually assembling processes, ports, configuration, verification steps, and shutdown commands for local cluster development.

Skill for Codex

Written for Codex: agents/openai.yaml present. Also seen: reads .claude/ paths; installed under .agents/ (shared by several agents); mentions AGENTS.md.

This is mxsm/rocketmq-rust's own configuration. It tells Codex how to work on rocketmq-rust itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything rocketmq-rust configures →

About the project

RocketMQ-Rust is a Rust reimplementation of Apache RocketMQ, a distributed message-queue system for sending and processing messages between applications. It is for Rust developers who need messaging middleware compatible with the RocketMQ protocol.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00059 $0.01724
Opus 5.5 $0.00024 $0.00690
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00012 $0.00345
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00172

Security

Grade A, and why

rocketmq-rust-local-cluster scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 2 executable files (scripts/prepare_cluster.py, scripts/test_prepare_cluster.py), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

RocketMQ Rust Local Cluster

Turn the requested topology into a running, verifiable local environment with isolated data and an explicit stop procedure. Use this checkout's manifests, configuration parsers, and entrypoints. Java RocketMQ scripts and old flat Broker configuration are not substitutes for the Rust services.

Select a topology

Preserve the user's topology, paths, ports, and execution method. Otherwise default to dev-single, native processes, loopback addresses, and a debug build; state the assumptions and continue. For an unspecified request for HA, select controller-ha and explain its larger resource needs. Select dev-ha when the user explicitly wants ordinary master/slave replication.

Profile Processes Purpose and limits
dev-single 1 NameServer + 1 Broker Minimum message round trip; no replica
dev-ha 2 NameServers + 1 master + 1 slave Synchronous replication by default; no automatic writable-master promotion
dev-ha-2m2s 2 NameServers + 2 master/slave groups Two distinct brokerName values; ordinary replication
proxy-cluster dev-single + a separate Proxy gRPC ingress forwarding to the backend cluster
proxy-local 1 Proxy with an embedded Broker Single-process development; no separate NameServer/Broker and no HA
controller-ha 2 NameServers + 3 Controllers + 3 Brokers in one group Raft quorum, automatic Broker election, and replica synchronization

--with-proxy adds a separate Proxy to dev-single, dev-ha, dev-ha-2m2s, or controller-ha. It adds one ingress instance; Proxy redundancy needs additional instances and an endpoint strategy when requested.

These are single-host development topologies. They do not survive loss of the host or its disks. Explain synchronous replication (SYNC_MASTER), disk flush (SYNC_FLUSH), and automatic election as separate properties.

Workflow

For status, stop, or restart requests, open the existing environment manifest and process records first. Skip configuration generation and builds unless a requested restart actually needs updated binaries. Do not create another cluster while inspecting an existing one.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
