An architecture setup skill that helps establish coding standards, design rules, guardrails, automated checks, and project conventions after project onboarding.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps define architectural patterns, avoid anti-patterns, create fitness checks, add CI scaffolding, and record decisions.
Why use it?
It turns identified project practices and risks into agreed rules and enforcement mechanisms.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00133 $0.02288
Opus 5 $0.00067 $0.01144
Sonnet 5 $0.00027 $0.00458
Haiku 4.5 $0.00013 $0.00229

Security

Grade A, and why

architect-foundation scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Architect Foundation

Establish positive architectural patterns and the enforcement mechanisms that keep them in place, building on the project detection already done by /dso:onboarding.

Usage

/dso:architect-foundation # interactive
/dso:architect-foundation --auto # non-interactive (see Auto-Mode Behavior below)

Supports dryrun: /dso:dryrun /dso:architect-foundation.

Inputs

  • Required: .claude/project-understanding.md (from /dso:onboarding).
  • Reference prompts: load on demand.
    • Anti-pattern codes AP-1…AP-5: skills/shared/prompts/anti-patterns.md.
    • Fitness-function templates: skills/architect-foundation/fitness-function-templates.md.
    • CI skeleton blocks: skills/shared/prompts/ci-skeleton-templates.md.

Workflow

PA Read understanding + detect existing artifacts
PB Socratic gap-fill (one open question at a time)
PC Recommendation synthesis (per-item accept/reject/discuss)
PD Write scaffolding (single batched confirmation)
PE Wire enforcement + ADRs + peer review

There is one approval gate per phase, not three. The Phase C per-recommendation loop replaces a blueprint-level validation loop.

Auto-Mode Behavior

When invoked with --auto:

Phase Behavior under --auto
PA Same. Fail with an actionable error if project-understanding.md is missing or incomplete (list needed fields).
PB Skipped — select recommended defaults from the understanding file. Report the chosen defaults in a summary table.
PC Accept all synthesized recommendations without per-item review.
PD Skip the "proceed with writing N files?" confirmation; skip prefill-config.sh post-write confirmation.
PE Still runs /dso:review; applies critical/important findings automatically.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
