resolve-conflicts

resolve-conflicts is a skill for Claude Code from navapbc/digital-service-orchestra. It costs 132 tokens per session (2,509 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

An assistant for resolving Git merge and rebase conflicts, which happen when two sets of changes edit the same code incompatibly. It separates straightforward conflicts from ones that need a person's decision.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it during an active conflict or to merge a named branch, automatically handling high-confidence cases and presenting harder ones for approval.
Why use it?
It helps restore a usable working tree after a failed merge, rebase, or pull without guessing about complex changes.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00132 $0.02509
Opus 5 $0.00066 $0.01255
Sonnet 5 $0.00026 $0.00502
Haiku 4.5 $0.00013 $0.00251

Security

Grade A, and why

resolve-conflicts scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Resolve Conflicts: Agent-Assisted Conflict Resolution

Analyzes git merge or rebase conflicts, classifies them by complexity, auto-resolves trivial cases, and presents non-trivial resolutions for human approval.

Invocation

Automatic (called by other skills):

  • /dso:end-session Step 4: when merge-to-main.sh exits with CONFLICT_DATA: output
  • /dso:debug-everything Phase L Step 1: same trigger

Manual (user-invoked):

  • /dso:resolve-conflicts — resolve conflicts in the current merge/rebase state
  • /dso:resolve-conflicts <branch> — attempt merge of <branch> into current branch, then resolve

Prerequisites

Before this skill can act, one of these must be true:

  • A merge is in progress with unresolved conflicts (ms_get_conflicted_files returns files)
  • A branch name was provided as argument (skill will attempt the merge)

Steps

1. Detect Conflicts

REPO_ROOT=$(git rev-parse --show-toplevel)
source "${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/hooks/lib/merge-state.sh"

If a branch argument was provided and no merge is in progress:

git merge --no-ff <branch> -m "Merge <branch>" --quiet 2>&1

Check for conflicted files using the shared library:

CONFLICTED=$(ms_get_conflicted_files)

If $CONFLICTED is empty, check whether a merge is still in progress with all conflicts pre-resolved:

# Uses ms_is_merge_in_progress from ${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/hooks/lib/merge-state.sh
# Returns 0 (true) when MERGE_HEAD exists and != HEAD
if ms_is_merge_in_progress; then MERGE_IN_PROGRESS="yes"; else MERGE_IN_PROGRESS="no"; fi
  • If $MERGE_IN_PROGRESS is yes and no unresolved conflicts remain: report "Merge in progress with all conflicts pre-resolved — run git commit to finalize the merge." and exit. Do NOT report "no conflicts detected" — the merge needs committing, not aborting.
  • If $MERGE_IN_PROGRESS is no: report "No conflicts detected — merge is clean." and exit.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
