doughnut: Skill for Claude Code

.agents/skills/mcp-server/SKILL.md

mcp-server is a skill for Claude Code from nerds-odd-e/doughnut. It costs 34 tokens per session (935 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A Model Context Protocol server, a program that exposes tools for other AI systems, written in TypeScript and connected to the Donut backend.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when working on the MCP server, its backend context tools, schemas, startup code, or tests.
Why use it?
It provides a defined server structure for tools that search and read note context from the backend.

Skill for Claude Code

Written for Claude Code: paths in frontmatter. Also seen: installed under .agents/ (shared by several agents).

This is nerds-odd-e/doughnut's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on doughnut itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything doughnut configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00034 $0.00935
Opus 5.5 $0.00014 $0.00374
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00007 $0.00187
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00093

Measured yesterday against content hash e89c381d001b, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

mcp-server scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Donut HTTPS MCP

Donut exposes MCP on the backend over Streamable HTTP at /api/mcp. One backend service owns the tools.

Implementation lives under backend/src/main/java/com/odde/donut/mcp/. Proof is the MCP boundary tests and e2e_test/features/mcp/mcp_services.feature. Style for backend unit tests: the unit-testing skill and backend / backend-testing skills.

How to use this MCP server

Connect any MCP client that speaks Streamable HTTP with a personal bearer token. Registered confidential hosted assistants can instead use GitHub-backed OAuth account linking, including consent, automatic renewal and Settings withdrawal. Hosted assistants may request notes:read with the narrow learning_session:record permission to save Learning Session Reports; read-only grants do not permit report recording. Existing read-only connections need authorization with both scopes to gain that permission. Personal-token connections need no OAuth setup.

  1. Open Donut in the browser and sign in.
  2. Go to Settings → Access Tokens, generate a token, and copy it once.
  3. Point the client at your deployment HTTPS URL ending in /api/mcp (for production, https://doughnut.odd-e.com/api/mcp).
  4. Send Authorization: Bearer <token> on every request.

Cursor

Add to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (or project .cursor/mcp.json):

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "donut": {
      "url": "https://doughnut.odd-e.com/api/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer ${env:DONUT_API_AUTH_TOKEN}"
      }
    }
  }
}

Set DONUT_API_AUTH_TOKEN in the environment Cursor inherits, or paste the token directly in a private config you do not commit. Save and restart Cursor (or reload MCP) so the client reconnects.

Compatible SDK / HTTP clients

Use the MCP TypeScript client with Streamable HTTP against the same URL and bearer header:

import { Client } from '@modelcontextprotocol/sdk/client/index.js'
import { StreamableHTTPClientTransport } from '@modelcontextprotocol/sdk/client/streamableHttp.js'

const client = new Client({ name: 'example', version: '1.0.0' }, { capabilities: {} })
const transport = new StreamableHTTPClientTransport(
  new URL('https://doughnut.odd-e.com/api/mcp'),
  {
    requestInit: {
      headers: { Authorization: `Bearer ${process.env.DONUT_API_AUTH_TOKEN}` },
    },
  }
)
await client.connect(transport)
await client.listTools()

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

mcp-server is a skill published in the GitHub repository nerds-odd-e/doughnut (50 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 34 tokens to every session and 935 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-17.
