ig-carousel

ig-carousel is a skill for Claude Code from nicojunk/claude-ig. It costs 31 tokens per session (1,175 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A planning tool for Instagram carousel posts, which are posts made of several swipeable slides. It structures the slides, creates a short cover hook, and scores the planned post against engagement rules.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to choose a goal and audience, select a hook pattern, plan each slide, write save-focused calls to action, and check the result before delivery.
Why use it?
It helps turn a topic into a clear sequence that encourages people to keep swiping, save the post, or take another action.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00031 $0.01175
Opus 5 $0.00015 $0.00588
Sonnet 5 $0.00006 $0.00235
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00118

Security

Grade A, and why

ig-carousel scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 147 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Key references:

  • references/format-specs.md -- dimensions, slide count limits, text sizing
  • references/hook-library.md -- proven hook patterns with performance data
  • references/content-rules.md -- brand voice, banned topics, caption rules
  • references/scoring-system.md -- engagement scoring criteria and thresholds

Phase 1: Context

  1. Confirm the topic and goal (educate, convert, build authority, entertain).
  2. Identify the target audience segment if not obvious.
  3. Load all key reference files before proceeding.
  4. Check hook-library.md for the highest-performing hook category matching this topic.

Phase 2: Cover Slide Hook

The cover slide follows the same rules as Reel hooks: it must stop the scroll within 1 second.

Cover Hook Rules

  • Maximum 8 words on the cover image
  • Must create a curiosity gap or emotional trigger
  • Use one of these proven patterns from hook-library.md:
    • Contrarian: "Hoer auf mit [common advice]"
    • Numbered list: "5 Fehler, die dein Training ruinieren"
    • Before/After: Visual transformation tease
    • Question: "Warum nimmst du nicht ab?"
    • Bold claim: "Das veraendert ALLES"
  • Font must be large, bold, and readable at thumbnail size
  • No logo or branding on the cover (it kills curiosity)

Document the chosen hook pattern and exact cover text.

Phase 3: Slide Structure

Follow the Hook > Content > Reveal > CTA arc:

Slide Role Rules
1 Hook / Cover Max 8 words, curiosity gap, see Phase 2
2-3 Problem / Setup Establish the pain point or question
4-7 Content / Value One idea per slide, max 15 words on-slide
8-9 Reveal / Payoff Deliver the insight or transformation
10 CTA Save-focused or "Part 2" tease

Slide Content Rules

  • One idea per slide. If you need a comma, you need a new slide.
  • Max 15 words per slide (text overlay). Fewer is better.
  • Visual consistency: same background style, font, and color palette across all slides.
  • Reading direction: top-to-bottom, left-to-right. No scattered text.
  • Swipe motivation: each slide must create a reason to see the next one.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
