nifdi

nifdi is a skill for Claude Code from nifdi-app/nifdi-plugin. It costs 130 tokens per session (1,581 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A task guide for creating and editing nifdi diagrams: structured pictures made from boxes, text, icons, and connecting lines. It covers architecture diagrams, flowcharts, and system or network diagrams.

In plain words
What is it for?
Building diagrams from written descriptions or pictures, changing existing diagrams, and working with .nifdi.svg files.
Why use it?
It explains how to describe diagram structure and connections so the nifdi server can build and repair the layout.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00130 $0.01581
Opus 5 $0.00065 $0.00790
Sonnet 5 $0.00026 $0.00316
Haiku 4.5 $0.00013 $0.00158

Security

Grade A, and why

nifdi scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Building diagrams with nifdi

nifdi is a structured diagram editor: containers, text and icons, wired by paths. Reach for it when the picture is boxes and arrows. It is not a vector canvas — the server owns layout, and completes and repairs geometry rather than honouring pixel-exact composition. Fighting that is the single most expensive mistake available here.

The model in one screen

A diagram is a tree of blocks plus paths that wire them.

  • container — a box that holds other blocks. Nesting is containment: a <container> holds its children directly, and there is no nested <canvas>.
  • text — words.
  • icon — artwork, referenced by asset="library:name" (find one with search_icons) or asset="#asset-…" for artwork already in the diagram.
  • path — a connector between two blocks, wired through <from> and <to>.

Blocks carry pos="x y" and size="w h", both optional. Omitted geometry is completed by the server; a declared pos arranges blocks against one another rather than fixing canvas coordinates. Style is a <style> block of selector { property: value; } rules with nifdi's own semantic property names — not CSS.

<container id="vpc" size="400 240"><text place="on top-edge">Production VPC</text>
  <icon id="api" asset="aws:amazon-ec2"><text>API server</text></icon></container>

That fragment shows the two relationships that matter, and they are different:

  • <icon> is inside the container — containment. It lives in the box.
  • <text place="on top-edge"> is attached to the container — it is the box's title, riding its border, and it travels with the box.

The one rule to internalise: attach labels, never place them beside

Text sitting beside, above or below an icon in the picture you are recreating is that icon's label. A name across a container's top border is that container's attached child. Author both as nested elements naming a place — never as a sibling text block positioned next to the host.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
