api-connector-builder

api-connector-builder is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from nklofy/code-agent-skills. It costs 36 tokens per session (604 once invoked), scanned A, a copy of api-connector-builder, Apache-2.0.

A workflow for adding an API connector, which is code that lets a project communicate with an outside service, using the project's existing integration pattern.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when adding an integration for services such as Jira or Slack. It helps inspect existing connectors and implement the new provider in the same style.
Why use it?
It avoids creating a second architecture or omitting expected pieces such as authentication, registration, error handling, tests, and documentation.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00036 $0.00604
Opus 5 $0.00018 $0.00302
Sonnet 5 $0.00007 $0.00121
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00060

Security

Grade A, and why

api-connector-builder scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

API Connector Builder

Use this when the job is to add a repo-native integration surface, not just a generic HTTP client.

The point is to match the host repository's pattern:

  • connector layout
  • config schema
  • auth model
  • error handling
  • test style
  • registration/discovery wiring

When to Use

  • "Build a Jira connector for this project"
  • "Add a Slack provider following the existing pattern"
  • "Create a new integration for this API"
  • "Build a plugin that matches the repo's connector style"

Guardrails

  • do not invent a new integration architecture when the repo already has one
  • do not start from vendor docs alone; start from existing in-repo connectors first
  • do not stop at transport code if the repo expects registry wiring, tests, and docs
  • do not cargo-cult old connectors if the repo has a newer current pattern

Workflow

1. Learn the house style

Inspect at least 2 existing connectors/providers and map:

  • file layout
  • abstraction boundaries
  • config model
  • retry / pagination conventions
  • registry hooks
  • test fixtures and naming

2. Narrow the target integration

Define only the surface the repo actually needs:

  • auth flow
  • key entities
  • core read/write operations
  • pagination and rate limits
  • webhook or polling model

3. Build in repo-native layers

Typical slices:

  • config/schema
  • client/transport
  • mapping layer
  • connector/provider entrypoint
  • registration
  • tests

4. Validate against the source pattern

The new connector should look obvious in the codebase, not imported from a different ecosystem.

Quality Checklist

  • matches an existing in-repo integration pattern
  • config validation exists
  • auth and error handling are explicit
  • pagination/retry behavior follows repo norms
  • registry/discovery wiring is complete
  • tests mirror the host repo's style
  • docs/examples are updated if expected by the repo

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
