notion

notion is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from nyosegawa/notion-cli. It costs 126 tokens per session (1,770 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A skill for operating Notion workspaces, including pages, databases, views, comments, users, teams, and file uploads.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to search and edit pages, create or query databases, manage views and comments, track tasks, and upload files.
Why use it?
It lets an agent find the right Notion page or database before carrying out an update or query, reducing work on the wrong content.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00126 $0.01770
Opus 5 $0.00063 $0.00885
Sonnet 5 $0.00025 $0.00354
Haiku 4.5 $0.00013 $0.00177

Measured 6d ago against content hash b1d68b7160cd, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-06, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

notion scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Notion CLI Skill

Operate Notion workspaces using ncli. Two backends:

  • MCP (OAuth) — search, pages, databases, views, comments, users, teams
  • REST API (integration token) — file upload, block operations, any REST endpoint

Prerequisites

# MCP auth (required for most commands)
ncli whoami # Check auth status
ncli login # If not authenticated

# REST API auth (required for ncli rest / ncli file commands)
ncli rest login # Save integration token (one-time)

REST API requires integration access to target pages: Go to https://www.notion.so/profile/integrations/internal → select your integration → Content access → add pages.

Core Pattern: Search → Fetch → Act

  1. Searchncli search "<query>" --json to find pages/databases
  2. Fetchncli fetch <id> --json to get details and extract IDs
  3. Act — Use the extracted IDs to create/update/query

See references/id-patterns.md for ID extraction patterns.

Key Commands

MCP Commands (OAuth)

Command Description
ncli search "<query>" Search pages/databases
ncli fetch <url-or-id> Get page/database content

ncli page update <id> --prop "Key=Value" Update properties
ncli page update <id> --body "content" Replace content
ncli page move <id> --to <parent-id> Move page
ncli page duplicate <id> Duplicate page
ncli db create --title "T" --parent <id> --prop "Name:title" Create database
ncli db query "<view-url>" Query database (view URL required)
ncli comment create <page-id> --body "text" Add comment
ncli api <tool> '{json}' Call any MCP tool directly

REST API Commands (Integration Token)

Command Description
ncli file upload <file-path> Upload file (returns file_upload_id)
ncli rest GET <path> GET request
ncli rest POST <path> '{json}' POST request
ncli rest PATCH <path> '{json}' PATCH request
ncli rest DELETE <path> DELETE request

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

notion is a skill published in the GitHub repository nyosegawa/notion-cli (55 stars, last pushed 5mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 126 tokens to every session and 1,770 once invoked, about $0.0006 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
