Octos is a self-hosted AI assistant that runs on a user's computer and can connect to different AI providers, execute code, browse the web, remember information, schedule jobs, and create documents through browser, terminal, and messaging interfaces. The catalogue entries extend or configure this assistant's workflows.
Getting it into your agent
One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00054 | $0.01450 |
| Opus 5.5 | $0.00022 | $0.00580 |

Grade A, and why
parallel-work scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 128 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
Parallel work
Use the existing authorization and the runtime's available agent tools. This skill organizes delegation; it does not grant permission to spawn agents, spend beyond a budget, publish, or change external systems. A domain skill still supplies the actual method and acceptance criteria. Do not import document-specific gates into coding, research, or ordinary questions.
Choose useful boundaries
Delegate a unit with a clear result that can proceed without another worker's unfinished decisions. For questions, split distinct evidence needs or hypotheses; for production, split independent modules, data partitions, or artifact units. Avoid giving several workers the same broad task unless an independent comparison is intentional. Small tasks or tightly coupled changes can be faster in one agent.
Make dependencies explicit and dispatch ready work. Shared interfaces, terminology, units, and output formats should be settled before their dependent work. Do not finish all target units in the parent before delegating. Batch deterministic work with an existing program rather than assigning an LLM to each mechanical item. Select unit size to amortize context and setup, not one agent per file by default.
Concurrency depends on available slots, model/API capacity, memory, and constrained services. Worker slots and renderer/build/database slots are separate resources. Do not introduce arbitrary iteration caps to hit a speed target. Honor explicit budgets and host limits; unlimited iterations are not permission to run forever.
Establish the common method once
Reuse the applicable tools, domain skills, accepted interfaces, and relevant validation evidence. Verify missing or changed shared capabilities with a small representative check. Every worker should receive usable paths and tool access, not just the instruction to "follow what the parent did."
Share the method, runtime, and legitimate constraints. Let workers solve their assigned data and defects. Do not ask each worker to rebuild the same parser, renderer, test harness, research procedure, or dependency setup. If the task is itself to compare methods, deliberately allow separate implementations and label the experiment accordingly. A common tool failure goes to one owner; update its version and notify affected workers rather than having each invent a workaround.
What ships with it
3 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

parallel-work is a skill published in the GitHub repository octos-org/octos (766 stars, last pushed today), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 54 tokens to every session and 1,450 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-31.
