OpenAI Developers for Claude Code is a Claude Code plugin bundle that connects OpenAI developer documentation and workflow guidance to Claude Code. It helps users build AI applications, agents, and ChatGPT Apps from Claude Code, including setup, troubleshooting, Agents SDK development, and app submission. The catalogue entries are the plugin's skills, plugin metadata, and documentation MCP integration.
Getting it into your agent
One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00104 | $0.01656 |
| Opus 5 | $0.00052 | $0.00828 |
| Sonnet 5 | $0.00021 | $0.00331 |
| Haiku 4.5 | $0.00010 | $0.00166 |
Grade A, and why
openai-platform-api-key scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 104 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
OpenAI API Key Setup
Use this as the credential gate for OpenAI API-backed work in Claude Code.
When To Use
Use this skill as the credential gate for API-backed work, not as the app, docs, or implementation skill.
Use it when:
- The user asks for an OpenAI API key,
OPENAI_API_KEY, or ansk-projkey. - Claude Code will build, implement, run, test, debug, or configure an app, script, CLI, generator, UI, or tool that calls the OpenAI API, even before a live request and even if a usable key already exists.
- The user asks Claude Code to build, implement, run, or configure an app, script, CLI, generator, or tool that uses AI to produce outputs from user input.
- The user asks for an AI-powered app or UI that generates output from one or more input fields, forms, prompts, files, or other user-provided values.
- The user says "using AI" in an app/script/build request and does not name a different provider.
Do not use it when:
- The user only wants documentation, citations, model or API guidance, conceptual explanation, or code examples without asking Claude Code to build, run, configure, or debug an API-backed artifact.
- The user asks for a static frontend, visual mockup, design concept, or placeholder UI with no API-backed behavior.
- The user only asks Claude Code to write a one-off output directly and no app, script, generator, or API-backed tool is being built or run.
- The user names a different AI provider for the artifact.
If API access is needed and no usable key is found, guide the user through manual local setup instead of leaving placeholder docs or incomplete setup steps.
Coordination With Implementation Skills
When another implementation skill also applies, run this skill first only to inspect credentials safely and send the credential decision message. Until reuse-existing-key vs create-new-key is resolved, it outranks design-first and implementation-first flows; do not design UI, choose architecture, inspect API examples, write code, or run smoke tests. After the user answers, hand off to the appropriate implementation or docs skill.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

openai-platform-api-key is a skill published in the GitHub repository openai/openai-developers-for-claude (23 stars, last pushed 1mo ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 104 tokens to every session and 1,656 once invoked, about $0.0005 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
