In plain words

Why use it?
It records new work in the board even when its local gateway service is unavailable by saving the task for later synchronisation.

Which agent this was written for is unclear — built for openclaw. Also seen: mentions subagents; mentions Codex; built for openclaw.

Not installable: its command points at a path on the author’s own machine, so it runs nowhere else. The line is /Users/buns/.openclaw/workspace/echo/skills/coven-board-entry/create-task.mjs.

Good fit Use it to add a task with a title, description, status, priority, assigned familiar, project, or tags.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00000 $0.00699
Opus 5 $0.00000 $0.00349
Sonnet 5 $0.00000 $0.00140
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00070

Security

Grade A, and why

coven-board-entry scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (create-task.mjs), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 78 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Skill: coven-board-entry

Purpose: Create a new task on the Coven task board programmatically. Any familiar can use this without knowing task service internals.

Input

Field Type Default Notes
title string required Task title
description string optional Full description
status TaskStatus "inbox" inbox / started / completed / blocked
priority TaskPriority "medium" critical / high / medium / low
familiar string optional Familiar slug (e.g. "echo")
project string optional Project name (e.g. "CovenCave")
tags string[] optional Array of tags

Output

Returns the created CovenTask object as JSON.

How it works

  1. Try gateway API first — POST to http://localhost:3000/api/gateway/tasks with task payload
  2. Fallback — If gateway unavailable or fails, write to ~/.openclaw/coven-tasks-pending.json for later sync

Usage (from a familiar / subagent)

# Direct call via the skill script
node /Users/buns/.openclaw/workspace/echo/skills/coven-board-entry/create-task.mjs \
  --title "My new task" \
  --description "Details here" \
  --priority high \
  --familiar echo \
  --project CovenCave \
  --tags memory,ui

Or via the JS API (ESM):

import { createCovenTask } from './create-task.mjs';

const task = await createCovenTask({
  title: "My task",
  priority: "high",
  familiar: "echo",
  project: "CovenCave",
  tags: ["memory"]
});
console.log(task);

Notes

  • IDs are auto-generated as <familiar>-<slug>-<timestamp> or task-<uuid>
  • createdAt / updatedAt are set automatically to current UTC time
  • createdBy defaults to familiar if provided, else "unknown"
  • Pending tasks file: ~/.openclaw/coven-tasks-pending.json

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
