evo-excel-workbook-formula-io

evo-excel-workbook-formula-io is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from OpenLAIR/OpenSkill. It costs 46 tokens per session (410 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A utility for opening existing Excel workbooks, checking their sheets, writing formulas into existing cells, and saving the result while preserving the workbook structure. It can also ask LibreOffice to calculate formulas after they are written.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for validating sheets, inserting formula blocks, saving .xlsx files, and forcing recalculation of cached formula values.
Why use it?
It removes repetitive workbook editing and helps ensure formula changes are saved and recalculated correctly.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00046 $0.00410
Opus 5 $0.00023 $0.00205
Sonnet 5 $0.00009 $0.00082
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00041

Security

Grade A, and why

evo-excel-workbook-formula-io scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (scripts/utils.py), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

This skill handles workbook I/O and formula injection only.

Knowledge internalized:

  • Use openpyxl.load_workbook(filename=..., read_only=False, data_only=False, keep_vba=False, keep_links=True) for editable .xlsx workbooks.
  • Access sheets with wb['Task'] style, not deprecated APIs.
  • Write formulas as English Excel formulas beginning with = and using comma separators.
  • Preserve workbook structure by modifying only existing sheets/cells; do not create/remove sheets.
  • openpyxl does not calculate formulas; for reliable cached values on Linux, start LibreOffice headless with a UNO socket, open the workbook, call calculateAll(), and save/close it. Use plain --convert-to only as fallback.
  • Validation should confirm required sheets exist before writing.
  • When multiple skills have utils.py, use importlib file-based loading to avoid module-name collisions.

Functions:

  • load_editable_workbook(path)
  • load_cached_workbook(path)
  • verify_required_sheets(wb, required_sheets)
  • write_formula_block(ws, formula_map)
  • save_workbook(wb, path)
  • force_recalculate_libreoffice(file_path, out_dir=None)

Portable import example:

import importlib.util

def load_module(module_name, path):
    spec = importlib.util.spec_from_file_location(module_name, path)
    module = importlib.util.module_from_spec(spec)
    spec.loader.exec_module(module)
    return module

io_utils = load_module('excel_io_utils', '/app/environment/skills/evo-excel-workbook-formula-io/scripts/utils.py')
wb = io_utils.load_editable_workbook('/root/gdp.xlsx')
Files

What ships with it

1 file beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
