What is magento-module-dev?

A guide to creating Magento 2 custom modules, which are packages that add or change e-commerce features. It covers module files, PHP models, database tables, collections, and data or schema patches.

Use it to create modules, define data models and database structure, add migrations, and understand Magento module architecture.

Essential Files

registration.php

Registers the module with Magento's component registrar. Uses ComponentRegistrar::register() with type MODULE.

etc/module.xml

Declares the module name and sequence dependencies (modules that must load before this one).

composer.json

Package definition with type magento2-module, PSR-4 autoload mapping, and Magento module dependencies.
