airbyte-cloud-dagster-to-orchestra

airbyte-cloud-dagster-to-orchestra is a skill for Claude Code from orchestra-hq/orchestra-skills. It costs 97 tokens per session (1,364 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A conversion guide for replacing Dagster tasks that start Airbyte Cloud syncs with Orchestra tasks. Dagster is a data-pipeline framework, while Airbyte Cloud copies data between connected systems.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when migrating Dagster code that uses Airbyte Cloud resources or asset-building functions into an Orchestra pipeline.
Why use it?
It maps Dagster resources, assets, dependencies, and sync settings to Orchestra fields. It also explains that Orchestra waits for the sync itself, so a separate Dagster sensor is not needed.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00097 $0.01364
Opus 5 $0.00048 $0.00682
Sonnet 5 $0.00019 $0.00273
Haiku 4.5 $0.00010 $0.00136

Security

Grade A, and why

airbyte-cloud-dagster-to-orchestra scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Airbyte Cloud: Dagster -> Orchestra Conversion

Overview

In Dagster, Airbyte Cloud is integrated via dagster-airbyte: an AirbyteCloudResource holds credentials and build_airbyte_assets (or load_airbyte_cloud_asset_specs) turns each Airbyte connection into Dagster assets. Materializing those assets triggers the sync. In Orchestra the equivalent is a single Sync task under the AIRBYTE_CLOUD integration. Orchestra always polls for completion; there is no separate sensor.

Parameter Mapping

Dagster concept Orchestra YAML field Notes
AirbyteCloudResource(api_key=...) connection: Orchestra connection of type Airbyte Cloud (stores the API key)
build_airbyte_assets(connection_id=...) parameters.connection_id Airbyte Cloud connection UUID — copy verbatim
asset materialization parameters.job_type: sync Use reset for a full reload
destination_tables=[...] (not needed) Orchestra syncs the whole connection
asset key / name name: Human-readable task name
upstream asset deps depends_on: Upstream Orchestra task UUIDs/names

Orchestra YAML Structure

version: v1
name: <pipeline-name>
pipeline:
  <stage-uuid>:
    tasks:
      <task-uuid>:
        integration: AIRBYTE_CLOUD
        integration_job: AIRBYTE_CLOUD_JOB
        name: <descriptive name>
        connection: <orchestra-airbyte-cloud-connection-name>
        parameters:
          connection_id: <airbyte-connection-uuid>
job_type: sync # required: "sync" or "reset"
        depends_on: []
        condition: null
        tags: []

Conversion Steps

  1. Find the Airbyte resource — locate AirbyteCloudResource and the connection_id passed to build_airbyte_assets / asset specs.
  2. Find/create the Orchestra connection — in Orchestra Settings -> Connections, confirm an Airbyte Cloud connection exists. Its name goes in connection:.
  3. Replace the asset(s) with a task block — one Orchestra task per Airbyte connection_id, copying the UUID verbatim.
  4. Set job_typesync normally, reset if the Dagster code performs a reset.
  5. Wire dependencies — convert upstream asset dependencies to depends_on:.

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
