airbyte-server-airflow-to-orchestra

airbyte-server-airflow-to-orchestra is a skill for Claude Code from orchestra-hq/orchestra-skills. It costs 97 tokens per session (1,241 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A conversion guide for replacing Airflow tasks that run syncs on a self-hosted Airbyte Server with Orchestra tasks. Airbyte Server is the version of Airbyte operated on your own infrastructure rather than in Airbyte Cloud.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when migrating Airflow AirbyteTriggerSyncOperator or AirbyteSensor tasks that connect to a privately hosted Airbyte Server.
Why use it?
It accounts for the separate server connection and host URL while mapping Airflow tasks and dependencies to Orchestra. It also removes the need for a separate sensor because Orchestra polls for completion.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00097 $0.01241
Opus 5.5 $0.00039 $0.00496
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00019 $0.00248
Haiku 4.5 $0.00010 $0.00124

Security

Grade A, and why

airbyte-server-airflow-to-orchestra scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Airbyte Server: Airflow → Orchestra Conversion

Overview

Self-hosted Airbyte uses the same AirbyteTriggerSyncOperator / AirbyteSensor as Airbyte Cloud in Airflow, but the Airflow connection points to your own host. In Orchestra the equivalent is a Sync task under the AIRBYTE_SERVER integration, which uses a separate connection type that stores the server host URL.

Parameter Mapping

Airflow parameter Orchestra YAML field Notes
airbyte_conn_id connection: The name of the Orchestra connection to Airbyte Server (stores host + API key)
connection_id parameters.connection_id Airbyte connection UUID — copy verbatim
asynchronous / AirbyteSensor (not needed) Orchestra always polls; drop the sensor
task_id name: Human-readable task name
upstream >> chains depends_on: List upstream task names/UUIDs

Orchestra YAML Structure

version: v1
name: <pipeline-name>
pipeline:
  <stage-uuid>:
    tasks:
      <task-uuid>:
        integration: AIRBYTE_SERVER
        integration_job: AIRBYTE_SERVER_JOB
        name: <task_id value from Airflow>
        connection: <orchestra-airbyte-server-connection-name>
        parameters:
          connection_id: <airbyte-connection-uuid>
job_type: sync # required: "sync" or "reset"
        depends_on: []
        condition: null
        tags: []

Conversion Steps

  1. Identify the Airflow task — locate AirbyteTriggerSyncOperator. Note the airbyte_conn_id (which holds the host) and the connection_id UUID.
  2. Create/verify the Orchestra connection — in Orchestra Settings → Connections, create a connection of type Airbyte Server pointing to your host URL and API credentials. Note its name.
  3. Replace operator with task block — use the YAML above.
  4. Drop any paired AirbyteSensor — redundant in Orchestra.
  5. Wire dependencies.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
