tableau-dagster-to-orchestra

tableau-dagster-to-orchestra is a skill for Claude Code from orchestra-hq/orchestra-skills. It costs 83 tokens per session (1,292 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for converting Dagster Tableau integrations into Orchestra pipeline tasks targeting Tableau Cloud. Dagster and Orchestra are systems for defining and running data workflows; Tableau Cloud is the hosted version of Tableau.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00083 $0.01292
Opus 5 $0.00042 $0.00646
Sonnet 5 $0.00017 $0.00258
Haiku 4.5 $0.00008 $0.00129

Security

Grade A, and why

tableau-dagster-to-orchestra scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Tableau Cloud: Dagster -> Orchestra Conversion

Overview

In Dagster, Tableau is integrated via dagster-tableau: a TableauCloudWorkspace (or TableauServerWorkspace) loads workbooks and datasources as asset specs via load_tableau_asset_specs, and materializable assets trigger workbook/extract refreshes. In Orchestra the equivalent is a task under the TABLEAU_CLOUD integration.

Parameter Mapping

Dagster concept Orchestra YAML field Notes
TableauCloudWorkspace(...) connection: Orchestra Tableau Cloud connection (server URL, site, token)
workbook asset parameters.workbook_name + parameters.project_name Display name + containing project
site_name / pod_name Configured on the connection Not per-task
materialization (refresh) (always waits) Orchestra always waits for completion
asset key / name name: Human-readable task name
upstream asset deps depends_on:

        condition: null

Datasource refresh — for a published datasource, use integration_job: TABLEAU_REFRESH_EXTRACT and parameters.datasource_name.

Conversion Steps

  1. Find the workspace + assets — locate TableauCloudWorkspace, load_tableau_asset_specs, and the workbook/datasource being refreshed. Note site_name/pod_name and the workbook display name.
  2. Create/verify the Orchestra connection — Settings -> Connections -> Tableau Cloud with server URL, site name, and a PAT. Site lives on the connection.
  3. Replace the asset with a task block — use the workbook display name and its project.
  4. Wire dependencies.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
