from-skeptic-perspective

from-skeptic-perspective is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from OutlineDriven/odin-claude-plugin. It costs 39 tokens per session (591 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A read-only method for examining a question or claim with strict doubt and no loyalty to the project. It reasons from the claim and evidence provided, while identifying missing information and unproven assumptions.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to test a claim, proposal, or decision for unsupported assumptions and weaknesses using the information in the conversation.
Why use it?
It helps challenge ideas without granting them the benefit of the doubt or quietly importing another viewpoint. It does not change files or remote systems.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00039 $0.00591
Opus 5 $0.00019 $0.00296
Sonnet 5 $0.00008 $0.00118
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00059

Security

Grade A, and why

from-skeptic-perspective scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

From skeptic perspective

Contract

Field Bound contract
Trigger User wants an answer only from the skeptic seat (cold reasoning without project loyalty).
Authority Read-only. No file, VCS, credential, paid, published, deployed, or remote mutation.
Side effect A skeptic-perspective analysis emitted as chat output.
Done A skeptic-perspective answer is emitted without blending.

Not for

  • Rebuilding a design from primitives: use from-first-principle.
  • Blended multi-seat analysis: run each from-*-perspective seat independently and compare after.
  • Source or remote mutation: this skill is read-only.

Inputs

  • The question or claim to evaluate. Must be supplied.
  • Any evidence the user offers. Optional; the lens reasons from what is given and names what is missing.

Procedure

  1. Adopt the skeptic seat: cold reasoning that holds no project loyalty, grants no unstated assumption, and assumes no benefit of the doubt. Done when: the skeptic stance is stated.
  2. Restate the question or claim as a paraphrase to confirm the target before answering. Done when: the claim is paraphrased and confirmed.
  3. Enumerate the load-bearing assumptions the claim depends on. Mark each as stated, unstated, or unsupported. Done when: every assumption is listed with its support status.
  4. For each assumption, give the strongest available reason it could fail, using only the evidence supplied or general reasoning. Do not invent evidence. Done when: each assumption has a failure reason or is marked unsupported.
  5. State the conclusion the skeptic seat reaches, or state that the evidence is insufficient to conclude. Done when: a conclusion or insufficiency statement is emitted.
  6. Name the single strongest counterargument to the conclusion so the output is not one-sided. Done when: the counterargument is stated.
  7. Emit the answer only from the skeptic seat. Do not blend in another perspective mid-answer; comparison across lenses happens after independent outputs. Done when: the answer contains no blended perspective.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
