isolate-workspace-gate

isolate-workspace-gate is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from OutlineDriven/odin-claude-plugin. It costs 64 tokens per session (969 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A setup workflow that creates an isolated Git worktree, which is a separate working copy of a repository, for feature development.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it before implementing a feature or following an implementation plan that needs its own branch and workspace.
Why use it?
It keeps feature changes separate from the current workspace and checks that the existing tests pass before work begins.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00064 $0.00969
Opus 5 $0.00032 $0.00485
Sonnet 5 $0.00013 $0.00194
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00097

Security

Grade A, and why

isolate-workspace-gate scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Isolate workspace gate

Contract

Field Bound contract
Trigger Starting feature work that needs isolation, or before executing an implementation plan.
Authority Reversible-local: may create a git worktree, add and commit a gitignore entry, symlink hooks, and run setup. Roll back via git worktree remove or revert the gitignore commit.
Side effect May create a git worktree with the native harness tool preferred, add and commit a gitignore entry if the target directory is not already ignored, symlink the parent hooks directory, and run project setup.
Done An isolated workspace path plus branch is reported, or in-place work is reported; setup has run; and the baseline test suite is green, or failures are surfaced with a proceed-or-investigate question.

Inputs

  • Branch name (required): the feature branch to create or attach.
  • Base branch (optional): defaults to the current HEAD branch.
  • Setup command (optional): project-specific setup to run inside the worktree (e.g. pnpm install --frozen-lockfile, make setup). If omitted, no setup step runs.

Procedure

  1. Detect environment. Run git rev-parse --git-common-dir and git rev-parse --git-dir. If GIT_COMMON_DIR differs from GIT_DIR, the session is already inside a worktree. If the repo root contains a .gitmodules file and the current directory is a submodule, stop and report that isolation must run from the superproject.

  2. Determine isolation mode. If already inside a worktree and the user has not requested a new one, report the existing worktree path and branch, then skip to step 6. Otherwise proceed to create a new worktree.

  3. Create worktree. Run git worktree add <path> -b <branch-name> <base-branch> using the native harness tool preferred by the environment. If the branch already exists, omit -b and attach to the existing branch. If worktree creation fails (disk full, path conflict, locked index), fall back to in-place work on the current branch and report the fallback reason.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
