web

A skill for indexing web pages and searching the stored content later. Indexing means fetching a page and saving its text so it can be queried.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to index URLs, preview or list indexed pages, search saved content, and delete indexed pages by URL pattern.
Why use it?
It provides a repeatable way to build a searchable collection of web content instead of relying on a one-time page lookup.

One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00000 $0.00332
Opus 5 $0.00000 $0.00166
Sonnet 5 $0.00000 $0.00066
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00033

Security

Grade A, and why

web scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 4 executable files (scripts/delete.py, scripts/index.py, scripts/list.py, …), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

When to use

When user says "web index", "web search", "index this url", "search the web pages", "what does [url] say about", or wants to store/query web content.

Steps

  1. Parse the user's intent: index | search | list | delete
  2. Run the appropriate script:
    • index: python3 ~/.claude/skill-library/web/scripts/index.py <url> [--preview]
    • search: python3 ~/.claude/skill-library/web/scripts/search.py "<query>" [--n 5]
    • list: python3 ~/.claude/skill-library/web/scripts/list.py [--pattern <url-glob>]
    • delete: python3 ~/.claude/skill-library/web/scripts/delete.py <url-pattern>
  3. Display the output to the user
  4. For search results, offer to deep-dive into specific pages or index more URLs
  5. If any script fails, report the error — do NOT fall back to WebFetch

Examples

  • /web index https://docs.python.org/3/library/json.html — index a page
  • /web index https://example.com --preview — preview what would be indexed
  • /web search "json parsing" — search indexed content
  • /web list — list all indexed URLs
  • /web list --pattern "docs.python.org*" — list filtered URLs
  • /web delete "docs.python.org" — remove indexed pages matching pattern
Files

What ships with it

5 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

web is a skill published in the GitHub repository OZmasterAI/Torus-Framework (5 stars, last pushed 3mo ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It costs nothing until one of its globs matches a file; then it loads 332 tokens. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
