bab-ilu: Skill for Claude Code

.claude/skills/genesis/SKILL.md

genesis is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from P1-103n1x/bab-ilu. It costs 69 tokens per session (2,892 once invoked), scanned C, original, MIT.

An initializer for a fresh Bab-ilu knowledge vault, which is a structured directory of linked notes. It asks for the vault language and analysis lens, creates the required folders and configuration, and can import starter material.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to create a vault interactively or with a selected lens, optionally load seed data, choose a language, and prepare the `.agent` and `wiki` directories for later work.
Why use it?
It removes the manual setup needed before using Bab-ilu commands. Re-running it is safe because existing files are skipped.

Written for Claude Code and Codex: allowed-tools in frontmatter, but also reads ~/.codex or $CODEX_HOME. Also seen: reads .claude/ paths; mentions CLAUDE.md; mentions Claude Code.

This is P1-103n1x/bab-ilu's own configuration. It tells Claude Code and Codex how to work on bab-ilu itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything bab-ilu configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00069 $0.02892
Opus 5 $0.00034 $0.01446
Sonnet 5 $0.00014 $0.00578
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00289

Measured 11d ago against content hash 76975ab67259, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-10, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade C, and why

genesis scanned grade C with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Recursive force deletehighDestructive command

rm -rf with a variable or a broad path is one typo away from removing the wrong tree.

/genesis — Initialize the Vault (v2.1 lens-aware)

Synopsis

/genesis # fully interactive (asks 5 questions)
/genesis --lens=aesthetic-warburg # skip the lens question
/genesis --lens=engineering-alexander --seeded # lens + import seed kit
/genesis --lens=general-zettelkasten --no-seeds # skip seed kit

What this skill does

Sets up a fresh Bab-ilu v2.1 vault on the user's machine. Lens-aware — the chosen lens determines the wiki/ subdirectory names and the seed kit source. Idempotent: safe to re-run; skips anything that already exists.

Step 1 — Parse flags + ask the 5 questions (PRD §3.1)

Read any --lens=<id>, --seeded, --no-seeds flags passed as arguments. Unanswered items drop into an interactive prompt:

  1. Vault main language? (zh / en / es / fr / ja / other) → writes vault_language: to .agent/CLAUDE.md. Reused on every /ingest.
  2. Vault lens? (choose one)
    • aesthetic-warburg — visual aesthetics (cinema/photo/UI/UX/graphic/game/architecture/illustration/painting)
    • engineering-alexander — incidents → forces → patterns → pattern languages
    • general-zettelkasten — fleeting notes → permanent notes → indexes (Luhmann + Bloom)
    • (custom — user supplies a lens id from .agent/lenses/)
  3. Work subdomain within the lens? Suggest the lens's allowed_subdomains if any; otherwise "综合 / general". For aesthetic-warburg the options come from the lens config: cinema / photo / ui / ux / graphic / game / architecture / illustration / painting. For engineering-alexander: distributed / frontend / ml / embedded / security / general. For general-zettelkasten: open.
  4. Import the demo seed kit? (yes → copies seed kit tagged to the chosen lens from seed-kit/<lens-id>/ into wiki/; no → empty vault). --seeded answers yes; --no-seeds answers no.
  5. Do you already have raw material? If yes, offer to run /ingest immediately after genesis finishes.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

genesis is a skill published in the GitHub repository P1-103n1x/bab-ilu (11 stars, last pushed 4mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 69 tokens to every session and 2,892 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it C with 1 finding (recursive force delete). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
