composer

composer is a skill for Claude Code from P47Phoenix/Claude-Plugins. It costs 149 tokens per session (2,795 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

An arranging tool for deciding instruments, section dynamics, energy changes, production notes, and MIDI export. MIDI is a standard way for music software and instruments to exchange note and performance instructions.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to plan which instruments play, map energy across song sections, write an artist-free production brief, or prepare a release package with MIDI export.
Why use it?
It divides arrangement requests into focused tasks, so instrumentation, dynamics, and production planning use the relevant guidance for each job.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00149 $0.02795
Opus 5.5 $0.00060 $0.01118
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00030 $0.00559
Haiku 4.5 $0.00015 $0.00280

Security

Grade A, and why

composer scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Design Principle: Role Context Isolation

This skill keeps music-theory and notation knowledge out of the main context window. When a composing task arrives, the role is detected, only the matching role manifest, its output contract, the genre sections the role needs, and a few theory or technique files are read, and a sub-agent is spawned with that isolated context. The main context receives only the finished artifact path (or, for theory questions, the finished inline answer).

Four roles share this skill: harmony writes chords.md, melody writes melody.abc, groove writes structure.md, theorist answers theory questions inline. They never share a prompt: one role is one Agent call.

Phase 1: Role Detection

Pipeline mode. When the prompt begins SKILL: composer, a TASK_TYPE: and a ROLE: line are given by the orchestrator (music-flow). Honour them. Do not detect. Begin the output with SKILL_LOADED: <every references/ path embedded>.

Standalone mode. Detect the role from (in priority order):

  1. Explicit role mention -- "as the harmony writer", "theory question", "just the melody"
  2. Deliverable signals -- see the role manifests below
  3. Domain signals -- chord and numeral words route to harmony; ABC, topline, motif, singable words to melody; key, tempo, meter, form, section-length words to groove; "explain", "analyze", "why", "what mode", "what fits" to theorist
  4. Artifact signals -- a supplied progression to explain, or a request for reharmonization options (answer only, written inline), routes to theorist; a request to write or revise chords.md (reharmonize a section in the artifact) routes to harmony

If ambiguous, ask before proceeding. Do not assume.

Standalone use outside a .song/ run prints one line first: Note: no active pipeline (no .song/active); working standalone, nothing is gate-checked by the orchestrator. Then proceed.

Declare before every task:

Role: [ROLE] | Task: [TYPE] | References: [list of reference files]

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

composer is a skill published in the GitHub repository P47Phoenix/Claude-Plugins (2 stars, last pushed 2d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 149 tokens to every session and 2,795 once invoked, about $0.0006 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-26.
