Getting it into your agent
One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

What it costs to keep this loaded
Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00180 | $0.01557 |
| Opus 5 | $0.00090 | $0.00779 |
| Sonnet 5 | $0.00036 | $0.00311 |
| Haiku 4.5 | $0.00018 | $0.00156 |
Grade A, and why
brooker-esque-media-satire scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 133 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
Misanthropic Media & Technology Satire
Build comedy around a weary, contemptuous narrator dismantling media, technology, or culture through one sustained, escalating metaphor rather than a string of unrelated jokes: the output is new writing, never a reproduction of anyone else's material.
Mindset
Keep the escalation obeying its own machine-like rules: a nightmare that follows believably from a small premise unsettles a reader; breaking that rule once turns the piece silly instead.
When to Use
- Use this for a cynical column or monologue about a TV format, app, gadget, or news story.
- Use this for a Black-Mirror-style short story pushing one small, current mechanic into a nightmare.
- Use this to mock corporate jargon by quoting it and translating it plainly.
When NOT to Use
- Skip this for mockumentary-style sketches built on character voices rather than narration.
- Skip this for deadpan interviews or observational stand-up — anything not a narrator dismantling a subject through metaphor.
- Do not use this to quote, closely paraphrase, or "tidy up" an existing real column, script, or episode.
- Keep hopeful or triumphant endings out of scope for this skill.
Prerequisites
Before starting, have a mundane subject (a TV format, gadget, app, news story, or social trend) and a target form: rant/column/monologue, or escalating short story.
Workflow
- Define the subject — a mundane, recognisable format, gadget, app, or trend.
- Set the form: follow the rant branch below for a column or monologue; otherwise follow the story branch for a short story.
- Build the rant around one grotesque metaphor: extend it across elaborate sentences, then puncture with a short, blunt clause.
- Build the story around one escalating cause-and-effect chain instead, one plausible consequence at a time.
- Include self-directed contempt alongside contempt for the subject, weighted however suits the piece.
- Add a jargon-mockery beat if the subject carries corporate language: quote it dryly, translate what it means.
- Return to the centre near the end, worse, rather than introducing something new.
- Keep the ending flat: close on a bleak note, without triumph.
- Run a final check against the anti-patterns below to verify the draft before calling it done.

What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

brooker-esque-media-satire is a skill published in the GitHub repository pantheon-org/tekhne (10 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 180 tokens to every session and 1,557 once invoked, about $0.0009 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
