RIPDPI: Skill for Claude Code

.agents/skills/encrypted-dns/SKILL.md

encrypted-dns is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from po4yka/RIPDPI. It costs 57 tokens per session (3,589 once invoked), scanned A, original, BSD-3-Clause.

A reference for a Rust library that resolves domain names using encrypted protocols such as DNS over HTTPS and DNS over TLS. It also covers failover, health scoring, bootstrap addresses, and detecting tampering with DNS traffic.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when working on encrypted DNS resolution, protocol support, connection failover, or DNS tamper detection.
Why use it?
It helps developers understand and change how private DNS requests are sent, retried, and diagnosed.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00057 $0.03589
Opus 5.5 $0.00023 $0.01436
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00011 $0.00718
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00359

Security

Grade A, and why

encrypted-dns scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Supported protocols

Protocol RFC/Spec Transport Default port TLS required
DoH RFC 8484 HTTPS POST with application/dns-message 443 Yes (HTTPS)
DoT RFC 7858 TCP + TLS, length-prefixed DNS wire format 853 Yes
DNSCrypt dnscrypt.info spec TCP, XSalsa20Poly1305 (ChaChaBox) 443 No (own crypto)
DoQ RFC 9250 QUIC bidirectional streams, length-prefixed 853 Yes (QUIC TLS)
ODoH RFC 9230 HTTPS POST with application/oblivious-dns-message, HPKE-encrypted payload 443 Yes (HTTPS + HPKE)

All protocols use standard DNS wire format (RFC 1035) for the query and response payloads. The protocol layer only differs in how the wire bytes are transported and encrypted.

DoQ does not support SOCKS5 transport because SOCKS5 is TCP-only; the resolver returns EncryptedDnsError::Request if you try.

Architecture

The crate (native/rust/crates/ripdpi-dns-resolver) is organized by concern, one top-level <name>.rs module file plus a <name>/ directory of submodules for each area. List the current layout rather than trusting a snapshot:

find native/rust/crates/ripdpi-dns-resolver/src -name '*.rs' | sort

At a high level:

  • pool.rs + pool/{builder,exchange,fallback_order,health_updates,ranking,tests}.rs -- ResolverPool/ResolverPoolBuilder, the LRU fallback cache, and health-based rotation.
  • resolver.rs + resolver/{connection,dispatch,dnscrypt_transport,doh,doq,doq_tests,dot,state,tcp}.rs -- EncryptedDnsResolver, protocol dispatch (dispatch.rs), and per-protocol exchange logic; resolver/doh/ further splits the manual HTTP/1.1 DoH path into request/response/chunked-body helpers.
  • health.rs + health/{oracle_policy,registry,score,snapshot,tests}.rs -- HealthRegistry, EWMA scoring.
  • transport.rs + transport/{client,framing,normalize,util,wire}.rs -- shared TLS config, endpoint normalization (normalize.rs), DNS wire helpers, and extract_ip_answers().
  • dnscrypt.rs + dnscrypt/{certificate,cipher,framing,identity,padding}.rs -- DNSCrypt crypto.
  • doh_pipeline.rs + doh_pipeline/{builder,cache,https_bindings,ip_candidates,lookup,types}.rs -- higher-level DoH batch-lookup pipeline (DohResolverPipeline) used by the diagnostics/oracle side.
  • https_service_binding.rs + https_service_binding/{cursor,dto,ech,records}.rs -- HTTPS/SVCB record parsing (used by ODoH config discovery and ECH).
  • odoh.rs -- ODoH client-side config resolution and HPKE query/response handling (no submodule split yet).
  • types/ -- EncryptedDnsProtocol, EncryptedDnsEndpoint, EncryptedDnsError, EncryptedDnsConnectHooks, OdohEndpointConfig, and related public types, re-exported from lib.rs.
  • tests/{mod,pipeline,pool,https_service_binding}.rs -- integration tests (see Testing patterns below).

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

encrypted-dns is a skill published in the GitHub repository po4yka/RIPDPI (85 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed BSD-3-Clause. It adds 57 tokens to every session and 3,589 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-11-07.
