RIPDPI: Skill for Claude Code

.agents/skills/network-traffic-debug/SKILL.md

network-traffic-debug is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from po4yka/RIPDPI. It costs 52 tokens per session (2,110 once invoked), scanned A, original, BSD-3-Clause.

A guide for capturing and inspecting network traffic from an Android device or emulator, including SOCKS5 proxy and VPN-tunnel traffic. It covers tools such as mitmproxy, tcpdump, PCAPdroid, and HTTP Toolkit.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to inspect decrypted HTTPS through a SOCKS5 proxy, capture raw tunnel packets, collect app-level PCAP files, or compare Kotlin and Rust network logs.
Why use it?
It helps identify whether a problem is in the app's requests, proxy, VPN tunnel, DNS, or device networking. It also explains which capture method fits the device and whether root access is needed.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00052 $0.02110
Opus 5.5 $0.00021 $0.00844
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00010 $0.00422
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00211

Security

Grade A, and why

network-traffic-debug scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Network Traffic Debug

Capturing and inspecting traffic from the RIPDPI SOCKS5 proxy and VPN tunnel on Android devices and emulators.

Tool Comparison

Tool Root Required Works Alongside VPN Best For
mitmproxy No N/A (proxy mode) SOCKS5 HTTPS inspection with decryption
tcpdump Yes (emulator OK) Yes Raw TUN interface packet capture
PCAPdroid No Root mode only Quick app-level capture to PCAP
HTTP Toolkit No Uses own VPN HTTP-level request/response inspection

mitmproxy for SOCKS5 Inspection

Start mitmproxy in SOCKS5 Mode

# On host machine
mitmproxy --mode socks5 --listen-port 8050

Configure Device to Use Proxy

On emulator, the host is reachable at 10.0.2.2:

# Set global proxy (emulator)
adb shell settings put global http_proxy 10.0.2.2:8050
# Remove when done
adb shell settings put global http_proxy :0

On physical device, configure the Wi-Fi proxy settings to point to your machine's IP on port 8050.

HTTPS Interception

  1. Navigate to http://mitm.it on the device to download the CA certificate
  2. Install the certificate in device settings (Security > Encryption > Install a certificate)
  3. For Android 7+, user-installed CAs are not trusted by default. Add a debug-only network security config:
<!-- app/src/debug/res/xml/network_security_config.xml -->
<network-security-config>
    <debug-overrides>
        <trust-anchors>
            <certificates src="user" />
        </trust-anchors>
    </debug-overrides>
</network-security-config>

Reference in AndroidManifest.xml:

<application android:networkSecurityConfig="@xml/network_security_config">

This only affects debug builds -- release builds ignore <debug-overrides>.

tcpdump on TUN Interface

Works on rooted devices and emulators (emulator images are rooted by default).

Capture

# Capture all traffic on the VPN TUN interface
adb shell tcpdump -i tun0 -p -s 0 -w /sdcard/capture.pcap

# Capture with packet count limit
adb shell tcpdump -i tun0 -c 1000 -w /sdcard/capture.pcap

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

network-traffic-debug is a skill published in the GitHub repository po4yka/RIPDPI (85 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed BSD-3-Clause. It adds 52 tokens to every session and 2,110 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-11-07.
