wizard: Skill for Claude Code

.claude/skills/monitoring-a-wizard-release/SKILL.md

monitoring-a-wizard-release is a skill for Claude Code from PostHog/wizard. It costs 55 tokens per session (2,492 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A release-monitoring plan for a wizard or context mill, based on PostHog event data. PostHog is a service that records product events, and the plan compares a new version with the previous one.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to monitor runs started, run duration, language-model cost, completion rate, and success, cancellation, or error outcomes. It also defines useful filters and comparisons by version, program, environment, and model.
Why use it?
It gives the team specific measurements and regression limits to check before and after release. This makes problems in usage, speed, cost, completion, or outcomes easier to spot.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00055 $0.02492
Opus 5.5 $0.00022 $0.00997
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00011 $0.00498
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00249

Measured 16d ago against content hash 335e9e58403a, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

monitoring-a-wizard-release scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 16d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Monitoring a wizard release

Write the plan before you test the release candidate. Post it on the release PR. Then check it after the merge.

The plan

For each metric, write the insight you will watch, the baseline from the previous version, and the change that counts as a regression. Cover these five:

  1. Usage. Runs started per program.
  2. Run duration. p50 and p90 wall clock per run.
  3. Cost. LLM cost per run.
  4. Completion rate. Runs started that finish with status = success.
  5. Outcomes. Success, cancelled, and error, with errors split by error code.

Split each one by version. Also split by program_id, harness, and model when the release touches them.

Filters for every query

  • build = prod. Other values are dev, ci, and headless.
  • Person email does not contain @posthog.com.
  • program_id when the release touches one program.

Key events

All of these fired in the last 14 days. Every wizard event carries run_id, version, build, run_surface, program_id, and command.

Event Use it for Properties that matter
wizard: started Runs started program_id, version, run_id
wizard: auth complete Runs past login program_id, version

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
