todo

todo is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from poteto/noodle. It costs 61 tokens per session (394 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A task-list management helper for the project's `brain/todos.md` backlog, which is a Markdown file containing numbered open and completed tasks. It supports adding, editing, viewing, and completing items while preserving their permanent IDs.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for adding backlog items, listing tasks, changing descriptions, marking work complete, and moving finished items to the archive.
Why use it?
It keeps task changes consistent and prevents completed work, numbering, sections, and linked planning documents from becoming disorganized.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00061 $0.00394
Opus 5 $0.00030 $0.00197
Sonnet 5 $0.00012 $0.00079
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00039

Measured 4d ago against content hash ab472cbc4b92, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

todo scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Todo

Manage the project backlog at brain/todos.md. Edit the file directly with Edit/Write tools.

File Format

# Todos

<!-- next-id: 26 -->

## Section Name

1. [x] Completed item description
2. [ ] Open item description [[plans/02-some-plan/overview]]
  • Items are numbered markdown checkboxes: N. [ ] description or N. [x] description
  • Sections are ## Heading groups
  • <!-- next-id: N --> tracks the next available ID

Operations

Add an item

  1. Read <!-- next-id: N --> to get the next ID
  2. Append N. [ ] description to the target section
  3. Increment the next-id marker: <!-- next-id: N+1 -->

Mark done

Change [ ] to [x] and update the description with a reason:

2. [x] Old description — superseded by #75 channel UI redesign

Then move the done item from brain/todos.md to brain/archive/todos.md (create the file if it doesn't exist). Remove empty sections left behind.

Edit description

Replace the description text. Preserve any [[wikilinks]] unless intentionally removing them.

Rules

  • IDs are permanent. Never renumber or reuse them.
  • Always increment <!-- next-id --> when adding items.
  • Keep items in their section — don't move between sections without being asked.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
