teak: Skill for Claude Code

.agents/skills/teak-convex-backend/SKILL.md

teak-convex-backend is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from praveenjuge/teak. It costs 59 tokens per session (497 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of instructions for changing Teak's Convex backend, the server-side code that handles data, business operations, APIs, and tests. It covers schemas, indexes, workflow dispatch, the public API, and the MCP server.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when changing Convex queries, mutations, actions, tables, indexes, public API operations, workflow dispatch, RPC or MCP access, or backend tests.
Why use it?
It helps keep backend changes compatible across the API, MCP server, SDK, and command-line tool, while preventing unapproved data migrations and preserving processing safeguards.

This is praveenjuge/teak's own configuration. It tells Claude Code and Codex how to work on teak itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything teak configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00059 $0.00497
Opus 5.5 $0.00024 $0.00199
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00012 $0.00099
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00050

Measured 6d ago against content hash 1ae5df65f0e0, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

teak-convex-backend scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Teak Convex backend

Before editing, read packages/convex/_generated/ai/guidelines.md and "Convex backend" under "Working in each workspace" in apps/docs/content/docs/(open-source)/architecture.mdx. For a new field, table, index, public API operation, backfill or workflow step, read apps/docs/content/docs/(open-source)/adding-a-feature.mdx. Load the vendored convex skills when the task needs them.

Rules

  • Schema changes need explicit approval for any migration or backfill; propose them, don't run them.
  • Import backend APIs from @teak/convex, data types from @teak/convex/_generated/dataModel, shared constants from @teak/convex/shared/constants.
  • A public API operation ships on the API, MCP, SDK and CLI together (scripts/repo/public-parity.ts).
  • Card processing runs on the Core Worker's Workflows, started with queueCardProcessing (packages/convex/workflowDispatch.ts). Keep the processing-revision guard on every write the Worker makes through the workflow gateway.

Prove the change

  1. bun run --cwd packages/convex test:unit (Bun tests in __tests__/, mirroring the source path) and test:edge (convex-test files listed in vitest.config.ts), then bun run --cwd packages/convex typecheck and lint.
  2. Backend behavior is only live on the dev deployment while this checkout holds the push lease: bun run dev --stop && bun run dev --detach --push, then bun .agents/skills/verify-teak/scripts/doctor.ts must show this checkout's backend before you verify. bun run dev --local --detach avoids the shared deployment for schema and destructive work.
  3. Drive the affected feature through .agents/skills/verify-teak and keep the evidence.

Report what changed, the commands you ran with their results, and any step you could not reach.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
