spk-run-next

spk-run-next is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Priivacy-ai/spec-kitty. It costs 29 tokens per session (240 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for asking Spec Kitty what should happen next in an active mission or advancing the mission with a result. It explains how to handle steps, questions needing answers, blocked work, and finished missions.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to query or advance missions, run generated prompts, answer pending decisions, fix blocked checks, and route finished work to acceptance.
Why use it?
It gives agents one consistent control loop and prevents them from executing the wrong action or treating an unresolved decision as complete.

About the project

Spec Kitty is an open-source command-line tool that turns product requirements into a repository-based workflow for AI-assisted software development. It stores specifications, plans, tasks, acceptance criteria, reviews, and merge decisions in Git while giving agents isolated git worktrees for parallel implementation. The catalogue add-ons support the project's workflows for coordinating agents and governing their work.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00029 $0.00240
Opus 5 $0.00015 $0.00120
Sonnet 5 $0.00006 $0.00048
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00024

Security

Grade A, and why

spk-run-next scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 13d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

spk-run-next

Use this skill when advancing an active mission, asking what to do next, or recovering from a runtime decision.

Flow

  1. Query state with spec-kitty next --mission <handle> --json or advance with spec-kitty next --agent <name> --mission <handle> --result <success|failed|blocked>.
  2. Read the returned decision kind.
  3. For query, inspect only; do not execute a prompt or mark a result.
  4. For step, execute the generated prompt file.
  5. For decision_required, answer with --answer, --result, --agent, and --decision-id when multiple decisions are pending.
  6. For blocked, fix guard failures before retrying.
  7. For terminal, route to spk-gate-accept.

Legacy Alias

For detailed runtime semantics, use spec-kitty-runtime-next when available.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
