Synaptic-Tuner: Skill for Claude Code

.agents/skills/source-ingestion/SKILL.md

source-ingestion is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from ProfSynapse/Synaptic-Tuner. It costs 85 tokens per session (398 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A procedure for turning authorized local Markdown files or folders into a verified, normalized source bundle. Markdown is plain-text documentation that can optionally include YAML frontmatter, a small metadata block at the top of a file.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to configure and run Markdown ingestion, diagnose verification failures, check the resulting bundle, and prepare it for later dataset work.
Why use it?
It provides a defined path for selecting, sanitizing, validating, and handing off source material without changing the originals without permission.

This is ProfSynapse/Synaptic-Tuner's own configuration. It tells Claude Code and Codex how to work on Synaptic-Tuner itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything Synaptic-Tuner configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00085 $0.00398
Opus 5.5 $0.00034 $0.00159
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00017 $0.00080
Haiku 4.5 $0.00009 $0.00040

Measured 1mo ago against content hash 0caac170928d, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

source-ingestion scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 3 executable files (scripts/validate_ingestion_config.py, scripts/validate_ingestion_result.py, scripts/validate_source_ingestion_skill.py), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Source ingestion

Turn an authorized Markdown selection into a verified, private normalized source bundle. V1 contains one grounded recipe: Markdown with optional YAML frontmatter. It does not assign training-example semantics.

Workflow

  1. Establish authority and scope by following protocols/ingest-local-markdown.md.
  2. Configure the one supported recipe with protocols/configure-markdown-recipe.md.
  3. Execute only through the public CLI or API boundary in protocols/execute-ingestion.md.
  4. If execution does not verify, follow protocols/diagnose-ingestion.md and do not mutate source material without separate authorization.
  5. Verify and hand off the normalized source bundle with protocols/verify-and-handoff.md.
  6. Before delivery, run protocols/validate-and-sync.md, then finish with protocols/deliver-project-local.md.

Map

  • protocols/ contains the ordered procedures. Load only the current step.
  • references/ documents public surfaces, exact config, parsing, lifecycle, privacy, bundle, and handoff contracts.
  • templates/ contains the CLI config and aggregate checkpoint to copy.
  • scripts/ validates configs, command results, and this skill tree. Run these tools; do not reimplement their checks ad hoc.

Refine

After a session that exercised this skill, run protocols/self-refine.md.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

source-ingestion is a skill published in the GitHub repository ProfSynapse/Synaptic-Tuner (28 stars, last pushed 3d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 85 tokens to every session and 398 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-08.
