conflict-check

conflict-check is a skill for Claude Code from protomated/protomated-plugins-official. It costs 73 tokens per session (1,536 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A name-matching check for comparing parties in a new legal matter with an attached list of existing clients and matters. It accounts for alternate names, business-name variations, and spelling mistakes, then reports possible matches for attorney review.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it for an initial conflict-of-interest screening before accepting a matter.
Why use it?
It helps surface likely conflicts that exact text matching could miss. It does not decide whether a conflict exists or clear the matter.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00073 $0.01536
Opus 5.5 $0.00029 $0.00614
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00015 $0.00307
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00154

Security

Grade A, and why

conflict-check scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

/conflict-check — Conflict-of-Interest Checker

⚠️ AI-ASSISTED DRAFT — ATTORNEY REVIEW REQUIRED This is a name-matching pass against the client/matter list you provided, not a conflicts clearance. It never determines that a conflict exists or doesn't — every match is a lead for you to resolve, and "no match found" is not the same as "no conflict." Not legal advice.

This skill compares the party names in an incoming matter against your existing client/matter list — a folder you export and attach — and returns a structured report of possible name matches, each tagged with a confidence tier and the specific reason it was flagged.

This skill never clears a conflict and never declines a matter. It surfaces possible matches for your review. A report with no flags means no match was found against the list you provided — it does not mean there is no conflict, and it is never presented as clearance.

Invocation

/conflict-check
/conflict-check [new party names] — [path to client/matter list folder]

Workflow

Step 1 — Collect the existing client/matter list

Ask the attorney to attach a folder containing an export of their client/matter list — a CSV, spreadsheet export, or plain-text list of current and former clients, and, where available, opposing parties and related entities from prior matters. If nothing is attached, ask for it before proceeding; do not run a check against an empty or unconfirmed list.

If the list format is unclear (e.g., a CSV with ambiguous columns), ask which columns represent party names before indexing, rather than guessing which column is the client name and which is something else.

Step 2 — Index the existing list

Read every entry and normalize each name for comparison:

  • Strip and normalize entity suffixes (see reference/matching-methodology.md, category 2).
  • Note personal names separately from business-entity names — nickname and misspelling categories only apply to personal names.
  • Preserve the original matter/client reference (matter name or number) for each entry, since every reported match must point back to a specific existing entry, not just a bare name.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
