aeo-content-free

aeo-content-free is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from psyduckler/aeo-skills. It costs 174 tokens per session (2,437 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A content-writing tool that creates or refreshes pages intended to be cited by AI assistants, using free research tools.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to research a question, prepare a competitive brief, draft new content, or improve an existing page for AI citation.
Why use it?
It helps replace guesswork with research into the sources AI systems currently cite and the information competing pages contain.

Getting it into your agent

One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00174 $0.02437
Opus 5 $0.00087 $0.01218
Sonnet 5 $0.00035 $0.00487
Haiku 4.5 $0.00017 $0.00244

Security

Grade A, and why

aeo-content-free scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Create or refresh content that AI assistants want to cite — using zero paid APIs.

Context: Why This Matters Now

Google's AI Overviews and Search AI Mode are powered by Gemini 3 Flash — the model that decides which sources get cited when users ask questions. Influence happens at retrieval, not inside the model — you can't edit training data, but you can enter the "candidate set" the model selects from when it searches the web. Gemini is search-first, searching before nearly every answer, which means creating the right content can get you into the recurring retrieval set — the sources the model consistently draws from. Influence compounds through repeated inclusion.

Requirements

  • web_fetch — analyze currently-cited sources and existing content
  • web_search — find competing content (Brave free tier, optional)
  • LLM reasoning — research, brief, draft, and evaluate
  • Optional: Gemini API key (free) — use gemini-3-flash-preview with grounding to directly test what the model cites for your target prompt before and after content creation (20 samples recommended for reliable signal)

Mode Detection

  • Create mode — User provides a target prompt but no existing URL → write new content
  • Refresh mode — User provides an existing page URL (+ optional target prompt) → audit and update

Input

  • Target prompt (required for create, optional for refresh) — the AI prompt this content should win
  • Brand/domain (required) — who the content is for
  • Existing URL (refresh mode) — the page to update
  • Topic context (optional) — additional info about the brand's angle
  • Content type (optional) — guide, comparison, how-to, explainer

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
