phi: Skill for Claude Code

.agents/skills/release/SKILL.md

release is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from pulseaiclub/phi. It costs 48 tokens per session (756 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A release procedure for the Phi project. It updates the changelog and version, creates the required Git tags, and pushes the release from the correct commit.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to cut a Phi release, choose a major, minor, patch, or preview version, update release notes, and publish the tags.
Why use it?
It removes the need to remember the project's exact release sequence. It helps keep the binary and changed extension modules on matching version tags.

Written for no agent in particular: nothing here depends on one. Also seen: installed under .agents/ (shared by several agents).

This is pulseaiclub/phi's own configuration. It tells Claude Code and Codex how to work on phi itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything phi configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00048 $0.00756
Opus 5.5 $0.00019 $0.00302
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00010 $0.00151
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00076

Security

Grade A, and why

release scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 19d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 71 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

phi Release

A release is one promoted CHANGELOG section, one version bump, one binary tag, and one tag per changed ext/ module. Start from a clean main that matches origin/main.

Choose the version first: breaking config, CLI, or extension ABI → major; user-visible feature → minor; fixes only → patch; -rc1 for a preview.

1. Update CHANGELOG.md and internal/version/version.go

CHANGELOG.md — promote the ## [Unreleased] body into a new section inside <!-- Released section -->, directly above the previous newest one:

## [X.Y.Z] - YYYY-MM-DD

Leave ## [Unreleased] in place with its headings emptied. In the footer, [Unreleased] now compares from vX.Y.Z to HEAD, and [X.Y.Z]: …/releases/tag/vX.Y.Z becomes the first version link.

internal/version/version.go — var Version = "vX.Y.Z". Root go.mod's require github.com/pulseaiclub/phi/ext/go carries the same version.

Done when scripts/changelog-extract.sh vX.Y.Z prints the new section. Commit, then merge to main — the tag belongs on the merge commit, not on the release branch.

2. Tag the binary

git tag -a vX.Y.Z -m "Release vX.Y.Z"
git push origin HEAD --follow-tags

release.yml runs the tests and GoReleaser, then rewrites the release body from the extracted section. Done when the release page body matches step 1's output and the archives and checksums are attached.

3. Tag changed ext/ modules

Each module owns a tag namespace and releases independently. List what has landed since each one's last tag:

for m in ext/go ext/rust ext/ts; do
  last=$(git tag --list "$m/v*" --sort=-v:refname | head -1)
  echo "== $m (last: $last)"
  git log --oneline "$last"..HEAD -- "$m"
done

A module with nothing behind its last tag gets no tag. For the rest, bump the manifest, commit, then tag and push that module's tag alone:

Module Manifest version Tag
ext/go none — tag only ext/go/vX.Y.Z
ext/rust ext/rust/Cargo.toml ext/rust/vX.Y.Z
ext/ts ext/ts/package.json ext/ts/vX.Y.Z

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

It adds 48 tokens to every session and 756 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-19.
