Getting it into your agent
One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00063 | $0.01521 |
| Opus 5 | $0.00032 | $0.00760 |
| Sonnet 5 | $0.00013 | $0.00304 |
| Haiku 4.5 | $0.00006 | $0.00152 |
Grade A, and why
octarine-notes scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 203 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
Octarine Notes
Octarine is a local-first note-taking app. Notes are plain Markdown files in a user-selected workspace, and Octarine watches the filesystem for changes. To save content into Octarine, write files into the workspace; do not use an API.
Workspace Discovery
Before creating or editing notes, identify the Octarine workspace.
- Check whether the user has already provided a workspace path in the current conversation, agent memory,
AGENTS.md,CLAUDE.md, or another global config. - Walk up from the current working directory. If a parent contains
.octarine/, treat that parent as the workspace root. - If no workspace is known, ask the user for the Octarine workspace path.
- Validate the workspace before writing. The directory should exist and contain
.octarine/. - After the user confirms a valid workspace path, persist it in global agent memory or global config when available so future sessions can reuse it.
Do not guess a default workspace path. Common locations such as ~/Documents/Octarine/ are only suggestions to help the user find the folder.
Workspace Layout
Typical workspace structure:
<workspace>/
├── *.md
├── <folder>/*.md
├── Daily/
│ └── Weekly/
├── .templates/
├── .attachments/
├── .files/
└── .octarine/
Rules:
- Never modify
.octarine/. - Avoid custom dot-prefixed folders unless the user has enabled dot-folders in Octarine.
- Write notes as
.mdfiles. - Put images and media in
.attachments/. - Put imported non-Markdown files in
.files/. - Avoid
node_modulesand.gitfolder names; Octarine ignores them.
Writing Notes
Write Markdown files directly into the workspace.
# My Note Title
Content goes here.
Save as:
<workspace>/My Note Title.md
For notes in folders, create directories as needed:
<workspace>/Projects/Alpha/design-doc.md
<workspace>/Areas/Health/workout-log.md
Use safe filenames:
- Use
.mdextension. - Avoid
< > : " / \ | ? *inside a filename segment. - Spaces are supported.
- If a same-name file exists and the user did not ask to overwrite it, append a number such as
Note 1.md.
What ships with it
1 file beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

octarine-notes is a skill published in the GitHub repository rajatkulkarni95/octarine-skills (5 stars, last pushed 2mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 63 tokens to every session and 1,521 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
