user-research-synthesis

user-research-synthesis is a skill for Claude Code from RBraga01/builder-product. It costs 41 tokens per session (1,470 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A research-analysis skill that converts user interviews, usability tests, or surveys into documented product decisions.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it after user research to record evidence, identify patterns, and decide what to build, not build, or investigate next.
Why use it?
It prevents teams from collecting user feedback without connecting each finding to an action.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00041 $0.01470
Opus 5 $0.00020 $0.00735
Sonnet 5 $0.00008 $0.00294
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00147

Security

Grade A, and why

user-research-synthesis scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

User Research Synthesis

The Law

RESEARCH THAT DOES NOT PRODUCE A DECISION PRODUCES A DOCUMENT.
"Users said X" without "therefore we will Y" is observation without direction — the team reads the report, nods, and builds what they already planned.
An insight → decision chain, documented and traceable IS research synthesis.

When to Use

Trigger after:

  • Any user interview, usability test, or survey that informs a product decision
  • Any discovery sprint before a new feature is scoped
  • Any moment when "what do users want?" is used to justify a direction

When NOT to Use

  • Competitive analysis (no user data involved — use a different framework)
  • Usage analytics review (quantitative data without qualitative context — different synthesis process)
  • Research stored for reference without an active product decision being made

The Synthesis Structure

Raw research is observation. Synthesis is the translation of observation into decision. Every step below must be completed before the synthesis is done.

1 — Observations

What did users actually do, say, or show? Only direct evidence — no interpretation yet.

Observation format:
[User type], [context], [verbatim quote or behaviour]:
"[exact quote]" or "[described behaviour]"

Rules:

  • Quote directly where possible — paraphrase introduces interpretation
  • Include the context (what task were they doing? what were they trying to achieve?)
  • Do not include "they seemed to want..." at this stage — that is interpretation

2 — Patterns

Which observations repeat across multiple users? A pattern requires at least 3 independent instances.

Pattern: [Name]
Instances: [User A, User B, User C] — each with reference to observation
Strength: strong (5+ instances) / moderate (3–4) / weak (< 3, noted as signal not pattern)

Weak signals (< 3 instances) are noted but not used to drive decisions without supporting quantitative evidence.

3 — Insights

What do these patterns mean? One sentence per insight. Insight = pattern + implication.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

user-research-synthesis is a skill published in the GitHub repository RBraga01/builder-product (2 stars, last pushed 2mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 41 tokens to every session and 1,470 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
