generate-tailwind

generate-tailwind is a skill for Claude Code from realmpastai-web/claude-design-suite. It costs 71 tokens per session (488 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A generator that turns a DESIGN.md file or W3C design-tokens file into a Tailwind CSS configuration. Tailwind CSS is a toolkit that styles pages through reusable utility classes.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to prepare a typed Tailwind configuration for a brand, including its color scales, typography, spacing, rounded corners, shadows, and responsive screen sizes.
Why use it?
It avoids manually copying brand colors, fonts, spacing, sizes, corners, shadows, and screen widths into a new Tailwind project.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00071 $0.00488
Opus 5 $0.00036 $0.00244
Sonnet 5 $0.00014 $0.00098
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00049

Security

Grade A, and why

generate-tailwind scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Generate Tailwind

Context

You are emitting a tailwind.config.js (or .ts) for a project based on $ARGUMENTS (DESIGN.md path or "current").

Domain Context

  • Tailwind's theme.extend keeps defaults intact; use it instead of replacing theme wholesale unless the brand truly rejects Tailwind's defaults.
  • Color keys in Tailwind map to utility classes: brand-500bg-brand-500. Use 50–950 numbered scales for continuity with Tailwind defaults.
  • Font + size scales must align with the modular scale chosen in pair-fonts.

Instructions

  1. Read source DESIGN.md (or tokens/tokens.json).
  2. Run:
    python scripts/generate_tokens.py <source> --out tailwind.config.ts --format tailwind

  3. The script emits a typed Tailwind config with:
    • colors.brand (50–950 scale, derived from primary)
    • colors.accent, colors.muted, etc. for shadcn-compatible roles
    • fontFamily.sans / display / mono
    • fontSize with the chosen modular scale
    • spacing (keeps Tailwind defaults, adds custom stops if DESIGN.md specifies)
    • borderRadius (sm / md / lg / xl / full)
    • boxShadow (sm / md / lg with brand-tinted variants)
    • screens (mobile / tablet / desktop / wide)
  4. Summarize additions to the default Tailwind theme and point out any overrides (not just extensions).
  5. If the project already has a tailwind.config.ts, offer a diff-mode that merges instead of overwrites.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
