synapse: Skill for Claude Code

.claude/skills/laravel-package/SKILL.md

laravel-package is a skill for Claude Code from RedberryProducts/synapse. It costs 0 tokens per session (2,169 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

Guidance for developing Laravel packages, which are reusable extensions for Laravel applications, with a focus on the Synapse package. It covers setup, configuration, publishing, and testing conventions.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when adding or changing Laravel package plumbing, service providers, configuration, migrations, assets, commands, or tests.
Why use it?
It helps package code behave correctly during application startup, configuration caching, publishing, and automated tests.

This is RedberryProducts/synapse's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on synapse itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything synapse configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00000 $0.02169
Opus 5 $0.00000 $0.01085
Sonnet 5 $0.00000 $0.00434
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00217

Security

Grade A, and why

laravel-package scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 127 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Laravel Package Development (Synapse)

Distilled from the Laravel 13 package docs, laravelpackage.com, and Synapse's own scaffolding. When these conflict with the repo's existing patterns, follow the repo — the conventions below already match it.

Golden rules

  1. register() binds; boot() wires. In register(): only mergeConfigFrom and container bindings — never resolve services, hit the DB, or touch facades that need a booted app. In boot(): routes, views, publishing, commands, events, gates, schedules.
  2. Config must be cache-safe. No closures in config files (breaks config:cache). Never call env() at runtime outside a config file — bake env-derived logic into the config's default value and read config() everywhere else. (Synapse's production route-guard does exactly this: 'enabled' => (bool) env('SYNAPSE_ENABLED', env('APP_ENV') !== 'production').)
  3. mergeConfigFrom merges only the first level. Don't rely on deep-merging nested config a user partially overrode.
  4. Guard console-only work. Register commands and publish groups inside if ($this->app->runningInConsole()).
  5. Everything user-facing is publishable, and tagged. Separate tags so users can publish config without assets, etc.
  6. Package discovery, not manual registration. The provider is auto-loaded via extra.laravel.providers in composer.json.

Service provider anatomy

public function register(): void
{
    $this->mergeConfigFrom(__DIR__.'/../config/synapse.php', 'synapse');
    // container bindings only
}

public function boot(): void
{
    $this->registerRoutes();                                  // guarded by config
    $this->loadViewsFrom(__DIR__.'/../resources/views', 'synapse');
    $this->registerScheduledTasks();                          // conditional
    if ($this->app->runningInConsole()) {
        $this->registerPublishing();                          // tagged groups
        $this->registerCommands();
    }
}

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

laravel-package is a skill published in the GitHub repository RedberryProducts/synapse (22 stars, last pushed 7d ago), licensed MIT. It costs nothing until one of its globs matches a file; then it loads 2,169 tokens. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
