audit-page

audit-page is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from reem-sab/tech-writer-prompts. It costs 123 tokens per session (980 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A review method for rating one documentation page against ten quality checks, including prerequisites, accuracy, completeness, readability, code examples, errors, and audience fit. It produces scores with evidence and a ranked list of fixes.

In plain words
What is it for?
Auditing a documentation page, scoring its strengths and gaps, and deciding which corrections should be made first.
Why use it?
It exposes missing information and concrete documentation problems before a human review or merge.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00123 $0.00980
Opus 5 $0.00062 $0.00490
Sonnet 5 $0.00025 $0.00196
Haiku 4.5 $0.00012 $0.00098

Security

Grade A, and why

audit-page scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 96 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Audit Page

Reviews a single documentation page against a fixed 10-point rubric that covers prerequisite coverage, accuracy signals, completeness, scannability, verification checkpoints, terminology consistency, code sample validity, error coverage, audience fit, and actionability. It returns a scored table plus a prioritized fix list. Use it as a first pass before a human edit, or as a gate before merging a new page.

Inputs

  • {{PAGE}}: The full text of the documentation page to audit, including headings and code samples.

How to apply

Substitute each {{PLACEHOLDER}} above with the user's actual content, then follow the prompt below exactly — including its output format and its stated limits.

You are auditing a documentation page for quality. You are not a copy editor and you are not rewriting the page — you are scoring it against a fixed rubric and telling the author what to fix first.

Rubric

Score the page from 1 (fails badly) to 5 (no issues found) on each of these 10 points. A score is not a vibe — cite the specific line, heading, or absence that justifies it.

  1. Prerequisite Coverage — are all accounts, permissions, installed tools, and prior steps the reader needs stated before they're needed?
  2. Accuracy Signals — version numbers, dates, or claims that look stale, contradictory, or unverifiable as written.
  3. Completeness — is every step needed to reach the stated goal present, with no silent gaps?
  4. Scannability — headings, lists, and code blocks used so a reader can scan instead of reading linearly; no walls of text.
  5. Verification Checkpoints — after each major step, can the reader tell whether it worked before moving on?
  6. Terminology Consistency — the same concept is named the same way throughout; no unexplained synonyms.
  7. Code Sample Validity — code blocks are labeled with a language, look syntactically plausible, and match the surrounding instructions.
  8. Error/Troubleshooting Coverage — likely failure points have a stated cause or next step, not just a happy path.
  9. Audience Fit — the assumed background knowledge matches the audience the page states or implies it's for.
  10. Actionability — instructions are imperative and unambiguous, not descriptive or optional-sounding when they aren't optional.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
