wechat-public-article-archive

wechat-public-article-archive is a skill for Codex from remixdawei/wechat-public-article-archive-skill. It costs 54 tokens per session (648 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A procedure for saving a known public WeChat article as a local archive. WeChat is a messaging platform with a public article system; the archive can include the raw page, extracted text, approved images, hashes, and access results.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to archive a supplied public WeChat article URL or saved HTML file for local reference and verification.
Why use it?
It records exactly what anonymous access returned without using logins, cookies, browser automation, or unapproved image sources. It also makes failed, blocked, redirected, or skipped downloads explicit.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00054 $0.00648
Opus 5 $0.00027 $0.00324
Sonnet 5 $0.00011 $0.00130
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00065

Security

Grade A, and why

wechat-public-article-archive scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 3 executable files (scripts/archive.mjs, scripts/html.mjs, scripts/wechat-public-archive.mjs), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 61 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

WeChat Public Article Archive

Archive only user-provided public article links or local HTML. Keep the access result truthful: anonymous GET is an attempt, not a guarantee of access.

Enforce the boundary

  • Accept only https://mp.weixin.qq.com/... article URLs and local HTML the user saved.
  • Use no login, browser profile, cookie, token, QR scan, proxy, endpoint adapter, JavaScript execution, or account-history discovery.
  • Do not follow redirects. Treat redirects, 401, 403, 429, CAPTCHA, and login/verification pages as needs_manual_browser.
  • Download only HTTPS images from mmbiz.qpic.cn, mmbiz.qlogo.cn, or wx.qlogo.cn; record any rejected or failed image in the manifest.
  • Cap downloads at 20 images; record excess images as skipped / asset_limit_reached and report asset_partial.
  • Keep article text, images, and real URLs out of Git by default. Archiving is not permission to republish content.

Archive a known URL

From this skill directory, run:

node scripts/wechat-public-archive.mjs ingest \
  --source "SOURCE" \
  --url "https://mp.weixin.qq.com/..." \
  --archive-dir "/absolute/local/archive"

Read the JSON receipt. Report archived or asset_partial as completed local archives; report needs_manual_browser, network_error, or invalid_input exactly as returned.

Import user-saved HTML

When the receipt is needs_manual_browser, let the user save the page HTML in their own browser, then import it locally without opening a browser or reading credentials:

node scripts/wechat-public-archive.mjs ingest \
  --source "SOURCE" \
  --html "/absolute/path/article.html" \
  --captured-url "https://mp.weixin.qq.com/..." \
  --archive-dir "/absolute/local/archive"

--captured-url is optional for offline imports. Without it, data-URI images can still be archived; remote images are retained as failed manifest entries because their base URL is unknown.

Inspect the archive

Each successful archive contains:

ARCHIVE_ID/
├── original.html # source bytes
├── content.html # extracted article body markup
├── content.md # extracted title and plain text
├── metadata.json # source, URL, time, and SHA-256
├── assets.json # per-image provenance and outcome
└── assets/ # only allowlisted image bytes

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
