resume-tailor

resume-tailor is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Remotivated/job-hunt-skills. It costs 49 tokens per session (4,516 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A tool for critically checking a resume, CV, or other work document. It looks for weaknesses that could make a hiring manager stop reading and saves an audit report without changing the original document.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to review a resume or CV, assess its fit for target roles or a supplied job description, and record specific problems and strengths.
Why use it?
It helps identify why application materials may not be getting attention instead of adding generic praise.

Skill for Claude CodeCodex

Written for Claude Code and Codex: shipped in a Claude Code plugin, but also agents/openai.yaml present.

Needs its repository: it reads a path above its own folder, which exists only inside the repository. The line is **State layer:** reads `applications.md` for dedup, selects either `resume.md` or `cv.md` as the source work document, runs claim verification before saving, wr.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00049 $0.04516
Opus 5 $0.00024 $0.02258
Sonnet 5 $0.00010 $0.00903
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00452

Security

Grade A, and why

resume-tailor scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Overview

Reshape the user's work document for a specific role. This is not keyword swapping; it is adjusting which experiences lead, which language matches the posting, and how the argument is framed. Never modifies source work documents.

Workflow

State layer: reads applications.md for dedup, selects either resume.md or cv.md as the source work document, runs claim verification before saving, writes a numbered tailor report, and upserts the tracker at status: saved. See state-layer contract.

0. Scaffold and select the source work document

Follow the Workspace Preflight (state-layer §10). Run node "{job_hunt_skills_root}/scripts/scaffold-state.mjs" if the state layer is missing; fall back to native file tools per §10 step 5 if Node is unavailable. If the scaffolder exits with the "working directory is the plugin install dir" message, surface that message verbatim and stop — the source document may already exist in the user's real workspace and is invisible only because no folder is bound. Verify the four canonical directories and two markdown files exist before continuing.

Select the source work document using state-layer section 6:

  1. If the user names resume or CV, use that file.
  2. If the job posting clearly implies a format, use the matching file when it exists.
  3. If only one of my-documents/resume.md or my-documents/cv.md exists, use it.
  4. If both exist and the choice is ambiguous, ask which work document to tailor.
  5. If neither exists, distinguish the two cases per state-layer §10: empty/missing my-documents/ likely means the workspace is unbound (rerun the preflight, do not offer resume-builder yet); populated my-documents/ without a source work document means offer resume-builder or proceed from pasted source material with limited evidence checking.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
