workbuddy-context-handoff

workbuddy-context-handoff is a skill for Claude Code from renky1025/agent-skills. It costs 157 tokens per session (2,220 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A WorkBuddy setup for handing work from one chat session to the next when the current session is nearly out of context. It creates a handoff document and loads it into a new session.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for configuring automatic context handoffs, continuing work in a new session, and investigating WorkBuddy's context limits and hooks.
Why use it?
It reduces the risk of losing decisions and unfinished work when a long coding conversation is compressed or ends.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00157 $0.02220
Opus 5.5 $0.00063 $0.00888
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00031 $0.00444
Haiku 4.5 $0.00016 $0.00222

Security

Grade A, and why

workbuddy-context-handoff scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 23d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Purpose

When to Use

When NOT to Use

Workflow

  1. 确认位置与备份:定位 settings(用户级 ~/.workbuddy/settings.json 或项目级 <proj>/.workbuddy/settings.json),先备份,再读现有 hooks 键。
  2. 写三个脚本到 ~/.workbuddy/hooks/:handoff-trigger.mjs(Stop)、 handoff-resume.mjs(SessionStart)、run-hook.sh。各文件职责与防死循环要求见 references/hook-implementation.md。
  3. 注册 hooks(合并进 settings 的 hooks 键,不要整体覆盖):
"hooks": {
  "Stop": [
    { "hooks": [ { "type": "command", "command": "<abs>/run-hook.sh <abs>/handoff-trigger.mjs", "timeout": 15 } ] }
  ],
  "SessionStart": [
    { "matcher": "startup|clear",
      "hooks": [ { "type": "command", "command": "<abs>/run-hook.sh <abs>/handoff-resume.mjs", "timeout": 15 } ] }
  ]
}

Decision Rules

  • contextWindow 兜底顺序:handoff.config.json.contextWindow 留 null 时依次取 settings.autoCompactWindow -> CODEBUDDY_AUTO_COMPACT_WINDOW -> 200000。
  • 要写或改 hook 脚本本身 -> 读 references/hook-implementation.md。

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
