register

register is a skill for Claude Code from rhoulihan/mneme. It costs 44 tokens per session (377 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A process for registering an existing knowledge repository with mneme so its contents can be searched and new knowledge can be submitted. The repository can come from a Git URL or an existing local checkout.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to add a repository to mneme’s registry, choose its sensitivity level, check its search readiness, and offer indexing or governance setup.
Why use it?
It connects a repository to mneme without requiring changes directly on its main branch. It also checks whether the repository has a scope statement so searches can route knowledge correctly.

Skill for Claude Code

Written for Claude Code: disable-model-invocation in frontmatter.

Installs and runs on its own, but its text points at files inside its plugin — anything it tells you to read at a ${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT} path is only there once the plugin is installed. Installing the plugin gets both.

Part of the mneme plugin — 11 skills, 3 hooks shipped together

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00044 $0.00377
Opus 5 $0.00022 $0.00188
Sonnet 5 $0.00009 $0.00075
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00038

Security

Grade A, and why

register scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Register an existing repo as a knowledge plugin. The binary is "$CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT/bin/mneme" when installed, else bin/mneme.

  1. Determine the source from the arguments or by asking: a git URL (GitHub, GitHub Enterprise, GitLab — anything the user can clone) or an existing local checkout.
  2. Ask for sensitivity (public/internal/restricted) if not obvious; the default is internal. There is nothing to decide about contribution flow: harvests always land on a mneme/harvest-* branch — pushed as a PR when the repo has a remote, left local otherwise — and mneme never commits to the repo's main, personal repos included.
  3. For a URL: run mneme registry add <name> --repo <url> --clone [--sensitivity S]. For a local checkout: run mneme registry add <name> --repo <url-or-origin> --path <checkout> [...].
  4. Check the repo's routing readiness: if its MNEME.md scope statement is missing (mneme context shows "(no scope statement)"), say so and offer /mneme:adopt <name> to retrofit governance — without a scope statement the distiller cannot route knowledge to this plugin.
  5. Offer to make it searchable now: mneme index rebuild (or mneme db enable if the index was never enabled).
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
