okf-bundle-index

okf-bundle-index is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from rhtevan/agentfs. It costs 19 tokens per session (2,427 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A checker and repair tool for index.md files in an Open Knowledge Format (OKF) knowledge bundle. OKF is a structured set of knowledge documents and folders, and index.md files list their contents.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to audit or rebuild indexes in an OKF knowledge bundle, either in the default knowledge directory or at a path you provide.
Why use it?
It finds missing or incorrect links and directory entries, helping the bundle stay navigable as documents are added or moved.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00019 $0.02427
Opus 5 $0.00010 $0.01213
Sonnet 5 $0.00004 $0.00485
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00243

Security

Grade A, and why

okf-bundle-index scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 2 executable files (scripts/audit-index.sh, scripts/rebuild-index.sh), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 324 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

OKF Bundle Index

Audit and repair index.md files throughout an Open Knowledge Format (OKF) v0.1 knowledge bundle tree.

For the full OKF specification, see load_skill(name: "okf-bundle-setup/references/okf-spec-summary.md").

Prerequisites

  • bash available (for audit / rebuild scripts)
  • Write access to the bundle directory

Inputs

The skill accepts an optional bundle root path argument:

Input Example Behaviour
(none) "check my bundle index links" Use ~/.agents/knowledge/ as the bundle root
Explicit path "fix index links in docs/catalog" Use the given path as the bundle root

OKF index.md Rules (reference)

These rules govern every index.md in the bundle tree:

  • No YAML frontmatterindex.md is a reserved infrastructure file (OKF §6). It must never begin with ---.
  • Directory listing format — entries use: * [Title](relative-path) - description
  • Links use relative paths (file.md, sub-dir/index.md, ./file.md).
  • Every concept .md file (not index.md, not log.md) in the directory should be listed.
  • Every sub-bundle directory (non-reserved, non-hidden) should be listed.
  • Reserved directories (assets/, samples/, references/, scripts/, templates/, archive/) are NOT sub-bundles and are typically not listed unless they contain noteworthy reference material the author chose to surface.
  • log.md is not listed in index.md.

Procedure

Execute these phases in order.

Phase 1 — Resolve the bundle root

  1. If no path was given, set BUNDLE_ROOT to ~/.agents/knowledge/.
  2. If an explicit path was given, resolve it against the current working directory.
  3. Verify the directory exists:
    [[ -d "$BUNDLE_ROOT" ]] || { echo "Bundle root not found: $BUNDLE_ROOT"; exit 1; }

Phase 2 — Discover all auditable directories

Find every directory in the bundle tree that should have an index.md. This includes the bundle root and all sub-bundle directories.

What ships with it

3 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

okf-bundle-index is a skill published in the GitHub repository rhtevan/agentfs (2 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 19 tokens to every session and 2,427 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
