github-issue-backlog-agent

github-issue-backlog-agent is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from richfrem/agent-plugins-skills. It costs 83 tokens per session (682 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A bridge from local task notes to durable GitHub Issues, turning a temporary task file into a documented backlog item.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to promote a task into a validated GitHub Issue with evidence, labels, and a structured description.
Why use it?
It prevents useful work from disappearing in local scratch notes and checks the resulting issue for required categories and exposed secrets.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00083 $0.00682
Opus 5 $0.00042 $0.00341
Sonnet 5 $0.00017 $0.00136
Haiku 4.5 $0.00008 $0.00068

Security

Grade A, and why

github-issue-backlog-agent scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 2 executable files (scripts/task_to_issue_bridge.py, tests/test_task_to_issue_bridge.py), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

GitHub Issue Backlog Agent (github-issue-backlog-agent)

Routing Directive: USE ONLY when promoting ephemeral single-session local tasks (tasks/*.md) into durable tracked GitHub Issues. DO NOT USE for managing local kanban boards (use task-agent instead) or directly creating/searching issues from execution friction (use github-issue-agent instead).

The github-issue-backlog-agent skill bridges local task scratch items into durable GitHub Issues. It parses local task markdown files, constructs evidence-backed markdown bodies conforming to repository taxonomy guidelines, and invokes gh_issue_create.py in dry-run or live mode.

Safety & Security Contracts

  1. Dry-Run Execution Default (execute=False): By default, calling task_to_issue_bridge.py outputs a structured JSON payload detailing the issue title, body, and labels without creating a live GitHub issue. Live creation requires --execute.
  2. Taxonomy Enforcement: Every escalated issue is validated against issue-taxonomy.json rules (type:*, tier:*, source:*, risk:*, and area:*/plugin:*).
  3. Secret Redaction: Both title and body undergo secret scanning via redaction_gate.py prior to payload generation or issue submission.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
