managing-rlm-cache

managing-rlm-cache is a skill for Claude Code from richfrem/agent-plugins-skills. It costs 75 tokens per session (1,073 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A workflow for setting up and maintaining RLM summary ledgers, which are files that store short versions of project information for later retrieval. It can initialize, search, summarize, audit, and clean these ledgers.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to configure RLM profiles, inject summaries into conversations, search a keyword cache, review ledger coverage, and clean entries in batches.
Why use it?
It helps keep an agent's stored project context useful by finding missing or outdated summaries and removing stale entries.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00075 $0.01073
Opus 5.5 $0.00030 $0.00429
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00015 $0.00215
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00107

Security

Grade A, and why

managing-rlm-cache scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Interaction

Treat slash-invocation arguments as supplied requirements; do not ask for them again.

For setup, semantic-cache onboarding or layer upgrades, read guided setup. Conduct it here in the main conversation; reuse known answers and ask one unresolved question per turn. Offer available standalone/combined choices, preview the config changes, then apply the authorized scope. Continue other skills' selected modes in the same session; preserve answers and never launch a setup agent. For an explicit query/audit request, use the matching mode directly without restarting an interview.

Constraints

  • Read each source fully before summarizing. Report source paths and injected summaries.
  • Never edit ledger files manually: use scripts/inject_summary.py or scripts/swarm_run.py.
  • Audit and query are read-only. Show cleanup dry runs and confirm scope before applying deletions.
  • Use configured profiles in the consumer's .agent/learning/rlm_profiles.json.
  • Search summaries first, then delegate semantic retrieval to managing-vector-db if installed, then use scoped exact search. Do not import another skill's Python implementation.
  • Ledger lookup/injection require only Python's standard library. Batch jobs use PyYAML; model-backed distillation additionally needs the selected CLI or configured service.

Workflow

Request Read first
Initialize, add profile or choose stack Guided setup, initialization, bootstrap guide
Keyword lookup / three-phase search Search
Read sources and inject summaries Distillation
Maintain coverage / batch work Curation
Compare manifest with cache Audit
Preview and prune stale entries Cleanup
Wiki summary, bullets and deep layers Use managing-obsidian-vaults, wiki distillation mode; verify it is installed

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
