os-control-health

os-control-health is a skill for Claude Code from richfrem/agent-plugins-skills. It costs 115 tokens per session (720 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A read-only health check for the Agentic OS runtime. It scans event records, current state, locks, memory, and cryptographic readiness to report whether the system is operating and able to verify approvals.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to review liveness metrics, inspect the event stream and memory state, and check whether approval verification is ready.
Why use it?
It provides a repeatable diagnostic without changing project code or configuration. It can reveal stale state, lock problems, missing events, or signing-readiness issues.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00115 $0.00720
Opus 5.5 $0.00046 $0.00288
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00023 $0.00144
Haiku 4.5 $0.00012 $0.00072

Security

Grade A, and why

os-control-health scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 37 executable files (scripts/control_plane/__init__.py, scripts/control_plane/adapters.py, scripts/control_plane/approver_policy.py, …), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

OS Health Check (os-control-health)

Scan across context/events.jsonl Event Bus stream, review os-state.json liveness, and compile system metrics deterministically without mutating user files.

Contents

Critical Constraints

  1. Deterministic Diagnostic: Do not modify user code or repo configs during health checks.
  2. Never Enroll CIBA Keys: Check verification readiness via --check; never execute key enrollment scripts autonomously.
  3. Lock Hygiene: Always release acquired monitor locks upon completion or error recovery.

Quick start

Run a fast read-only check of the Agentic OS substrate and cryptographic readiness:

python3 scripts/setup_ciba_identity.py --check

Cryptographic Verification Readiness

Assert human cryptographic gates can verify via ssh-keygen, SSHSIG, and allowed_signers:

python3 scripts/setup_ciba_identity.py --check

Exit 0 indicates trust anchors are ready, but is not proof of human presence. An agent must never run setup_ciba_identity.py to enroll keys.

Workflow

  1. Emit Intent & Lock: Emit intent event and acquire monitor lock via kernel.py:
    python3 scripts/kernel.py emit_event --agent os-control-health --type intent --action scan_metrics
    python3 scripts/kernel.py acquire_lock monitor

  2. Analyze Event Bus & State: Inspect context/events.jsonl, check hook error logs, and inspect os-state.json.
  3. Inspect Memory & Substrate: Review context/memory.md length, check context/.locks/ for stale locks, and verify substrate components.
  4. Summarize & Release:
python3 scripts/kernel.py emit_event --agent os-control-health --type result --action scan_metrics --status success --summary "Metrics compiled"
    python3 scripts/kernel.py release_lock monitor

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
