packaging-with-apm

packaging-with-apm is a skill for Claude Code from richfrem/agent-plugins-skills. It costs 114 tokens per session (1,310 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A workflow for packaging and distributing coding-agent extensions with APM, an Agent Package Manager. It supports creating or converting packages, installing them, and compiling source files into agent instruction files.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to create APM packages, migrate existing plugins, publish package catalogs, pin versions, install updates, roll back installations, and generate AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md, or GEMINI.md files.
Why use it?
It avoids manually assembling, installing, updating, or rolling back agent extensions while preserving the original source layout.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00114 $0.01310
Opus 5.5 $0.00046 $0.00524
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00023 $0.00262
Haiku 4.5 $0.00011 $0.00131

Security

Grade A, and why

packaging-with-apm scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 19 executable files (scripts/apm_build_pipeline.py, scripts/apm_consumer.py, scripts/apply_symlink_repairs.py, …), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Packaging with APM (packaging-with-apm)

Packages agent extensions for APM without changing their source layout, installs them with backup and rollback, and publishes marketplace catalogs. Behaviour below was verified with APM 0.33.0.

Contents

Constraints

  1. Never change the source plugin to package it. Staging, manifests and bundles go under build/; APM does not need an apm.yml inside the plugin.
  2. Pin APM (apm-cli==0.33.0, see requirements-dev.in) and pin every install to #<tag> or #<commit-sha>.
  3. Compiled files are outputs. Never edit a generated AGENTS.md or GEMINI.md when .apm/ sources exist; change the source and recompile.
  4. No overwrites of an existing package directory without explicit confirmation.
  5. Never edit deployed files in harness folders; change the source and reinstall.

Modes

Pick the mode from the request, then read its reference before running anything.

Mode Use when Entry point Reference
create New APM-native package from scratch scripts/scaffold_apm.py create-apm-package.md
convert Existing plugin to APM, or an install check scripts/apm_build_pipeline.py convert-plugin-to-apm.md
compile Single-file context hosts (Codex, Gemini, OpenCode) apm compile compile-apm-package.md
install Install, update, roll back, remove scripts/apm_consumer.py install-apm-package.md
marketplace Marketplace catalog and Gemini extension scripts/audit_marketplace_sources.py manage-marketplace.md

If the target harness supports native skill directories, prefer install over compile.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
