authenticate

authenticate is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Ritchy-EU/teams-mcp. It costs 33 tokens per session (244 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A procedure for signing in to Microsoft Teams using a device code. It checks whether an account is already connected, starts sign-in when needed, and verifies the result.

In plain words
What is it for?
Connecting to Microsoft Teams, showing the sign-in website and one-time code, waiting for confirmation, and checking that authentication succeeded.
Why use it?
It gives the agent a consistent way to handle missing or expired Teams authentication without repeating setup unnecessarily.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00033 $0.00244
Opus 5 $0.00016 $0.00122
Sonnet 5 $0.00007 $0.00049
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00024

Measured 5d ago against content hash 858b0493338f, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-05, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

authenticate scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Microsoft Teams Authentication

Help the user sign in to Microsoft Teams using the device code flow.

Steps

  1. Check current authentication status using the auth_status tool
  2. If already authenticated, inform the user — no further action needed
  3. If not authenticated, call the start_authentication tool
  4. The tool returns a URL and a one-time code — present them clearly to the user:
    • Ask the user to open the URL in their browser
    • Ask the user to enter the code shown on the page
  5. Wait for the user to confirm they have completed the steps in the browser
  6. Call auth_status again to verify authentication succeeded
  7. Confirm to the user that Microsoft Teams is now connected

Notes

  • Authentication is saved locally — the user only needs to do this once
  • If start_authentication fails, ask the user to check that AZURE_CLIENT_ID and AZURE_TENANT_ID are configured in Claude managed settings
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
