omh-parallel-tools

omh-parallel-tools is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from rlaope/oh-my-hermes. It costs 79 tokens per session (1,342 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A read-first workflow for checking whether the installed Hermes version supports current parallel tool calls.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps check version and capability status and prepare a user-run update command.
Why use it?
It avoids assuming that parallel tools are available and provides an update path when the installed version is too old.

About the project

oh-my-hermes is an operating layer for Hermes Agent that organizes requests into workflows for planning, research, creation, coding handoffs, operations, and project memory. Hermes users run these workflows through the desktop app, CLI, or messenger app, while the catalogue add-ons extend its native capabilities.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00079 $0.01342
Opus 5 $0.00039 $0.00671
Sonnet 5 $0.00016 $0.00268
Haiku 4.5 $0.00008 $0.00134

Security

Grade A, and why

omh-parallel-tools scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Parallel Tools

This is a Hermes-native parallel-tools workflow skill.

Why This Exists

parallel-tools exists to give a quick, read-first answer to whether parallel tool calls are current and enabled, with an update path only when currency is actually missing.

Do Not Use When

  • The user wants a general Hermes update unrelated to parallel-tool capability.
  • No version or capability question has been asked yet.
  • The request needs a repository code change rather than a local version check.

Examples

Good example:

  • Prompt: update hermes for parallel tools — can you check if I'm on a current enough version?
  • Expected behavior: Read the installed version and capability status, report whether parallel tools are current, and hand back a user-runnable update command if not.
  • Why: The request is a version-currency and capability check, the core of this skill.

Bad example:

  • Prompt: parallel-tools: update your memory with what we discussed.
  • Expected behavior: Route to a memory workflow instead of a version-currency check.
  • Why: Memory update is unrelated to parallel-tool capability or Hermes version.

Completion Checklist

  • If a prerequisite is unmet, mark that item "not applicable" and continue with the rest of the guide instead of blocking or guessing.
  • Success is applicable-only: verification passes when every applicable item is confirmed complete, not when every possible item exists.
  • The reported capability status matches an observed read, not an assumed default.

Recovery Notes

  • If the installed version cannot be read, report the read failure and stop before recommending an update.
  • If the update command is unavailable for the user's install path, name the blocker instead of guessing a fix.

Workflow Lane

  • Current lane: Automation and status (achievements, workspace-audit, production-audit, automation-blueprint, github-event-ops, github-issue-intake, buzz, agent-board, +35 more) - schedules, status, health, and ops review.
  • If intent belongs to another lane, hand back to oh-my-hermes or name the adjacent workflow.
  • Shared product, routing, compatibility, and evidence rules: omh-routing/references/skill-common-rail.md.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
